Irmgard Furchner, was convicted on Tuesday of being an accessory to murder for her role as a secretary to the SS commander of the Nazis' Stutthof concentration camp during the Second World War.
A German court on Tuesday convicted a 97-year-old woman of being an accessory to murder in over 10,000 cases for her role as a secretary to the SS commander of the Nazis' Stutthof concentration camp during the Second World War.

Irmgard Furchner was accused of being part of the apparatus that helped the camp function. The Itzehoe state court in northern Germany gave her a two-year suspended sentence, German news agency dpa reported.

She was alleged to have "aided and abetted those in charge of the camp in the systematic killing of those imprisoned there between June 1943 and April 1945 in her function as a stenographer and typist in the camp commandant's office."

The verdict and sentence were in line with prosecutors' demands. Defence lawyers had asked for their client to be acquitted, arguing that the evidence hadn't shown beyond doubt that Furchner knew about the systematic killings at the camp, meaning there was no proof of intent as required for criminal liability.

Tried in juvenile court
In her closing statement, Furchner said she was sorry for what had happened and regretted that she had been at Stutthof at the time.

Furchner was tried in juvenile court because she was under 21 at the time of the alleged crimes.

It's been 77 years since the Holocaust and all the major players have been convicted. Most people involved in that awful period are dead and gone, is it time to give it a rest?
 
Finding a secretary guilty of thousands of murders debases the entire system of justice for death camp victims , 20 million of them, including 6 million Jews.
If a secretary can be found guilty then so can a plumber, a carpenter, a garage mechanic and indeed a barbed wire manufacturer.

The fire-bombings of Dresden and other cities incinerated hundreds of thousands of people just because they were German- and the atomic-bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki incinerated their populations simply because they were Japanese.
The virtue-signalers that pursue minions have shot themselves through the head.

In my opinion, the statute of limitations should never expire for Nazis and Nazi enablers.

If your family was murdered, would you be happy to let bygones be bygones simply because the criminal is old? I wouldn't.

OTOH, I also understand that the elderly should be protected from abuse, even Nazi fucks. She was tried in juvenile court. Given her sentence, this is more about justice and record keeping rather than sending a 97-year-old to break rocks in prison.

Incidentally- and this goes for everybody- the US will NEVER be able to take a moral stance on any invasion as long as it maintains its chronically-hypocritical support for the illegal invasion and ethnic-cleansing of Palestine by the fascist Zionist Jews. Of course, this is not a slight against anti-fascist Jews - who mightily outnumber the murdering asshole variety.
