What the Americans objected to in Hobbes were the ways in which he drained the substance from the natural-law tradition. Reason was merely a tool that served human desires; ideas of what is good for human beings were completely subjective. There were no moral rules apart from the will of an overwhelmingly powerful sovereign who could lay down the law and keep the peace.

In contrast, Hamilton claimed: “Good and wise men in all ages” have taught that God had “created an eternal and immutable law, which is, indispensably, obligatory upon all mankind, prior to any human institution whatever.” The reason Hobbes believed such an “absurd and impious doctrine,” Hamilton concluded, is “that he disbelieved the existence of an intelligent superintending principle, who is the governor, and will be the final judge of the universe.”

Whatever Christians are left in this country are the only Earthly thing left holding this sinking ship together.

Anyway, this nation was founded as a secular nation. The ideas and laws came from various civilizations and religions, not just Christianity. In fact the Founding Fathers were impressed with Islam.

The First Amendment was written to resolve the Christian denominations problem.

So this nation is a nation of Christian majority.

If America is indeed a Christian theocracy, although I see nothing in its already flawed enough constitution to suggest that, all the more reason to start from scratch.

The last thing that we need are people compromised by religious superstition to have influence in writing our laws.

To answer the question, yes.

What this country is not is that there is no state religion.

That why religions freedom is protected and the establishment of any (one) religion it prohibited.

This is a secular nation where everyone is free to practice their own religions or not.

Better that than a bunch of over-educated idiot savants who think they know everything and are better than you doing it.

I think an interview I watched some years back with Michelle Obama and some talking head news type about her disastrously failed school lunch program typifies this sort of person. At one point Ms. Obama said something to the effect I graduated from Princeton with a law degree, and I have trouble figuring out a nutritious lunch for my daughters. How can we expect someone who never even went to college to that?

It was the height of arrogance on her part, especially given the massive failure of her program. The worst possible sort to let write our laws is some arrogant, self-assured, 'I've never been wrong' thinking asshole who believes they have all the right answers to everything. Better someone who has the fear of a higher deity punishing them for their arrogance than someone so assured in their arrogance that they fuck you over and don't give a shit that they did.

We are a nation with a predominance of people who are Christians.

It's what made America great until the non-Christians came to power.
