But not to evangelist per se, because without this hell (and don't get me wrong, as an agnostic I see that America has some serious social problems to overcome), the evangelist would have nothing to do (nor would they make money and enjoy those nifty tax exempt perks).

A decent government would investigate how they became Evangelists in the first place. After all, a government's first duty is to the well-being of the people .
This is the 21st century- yet much of the ' leadership ' of America believes that they will be ' carried up to heaven ' with the ' second coming ' of Jesus the Palestinian - provided that ethnic -cleansing Jews have slaughtered or evicted all the indigenous Palestinians of Palestine.
Who the fuck VOTES for these mental cases ? I'll tell you- those who have been brain-scrubbed to believe that such ' thinking ' is normal. A decent government would save its populace from these brain-scrubbing nuts.
Freedom of religion is a good thing- and I say that as an atheist- but not when the nuts take over. America NEEDS to put its religious nuts back in their nut box.

Well, that's the "hell" of living in a free society...you have freedom of and freedom from religion (or so the urban legend goes). The problem REALLY started when Eisenhower gave Billy Graham public creds in the anti-communism crusade. Since then, the little cusses have loopholed their way into serious social politics. (i.e. the Moral Majority, creeps like Falwell, etc.) It's a never ending battle, but once you try to lower the iron heel of gov't and ban religious worship you give the hucksters the ammo they need to galvanize their suckers, err followers to do some really nasty things. I say, everyone become a buddhist and just chill out.
