Bill Moyers – Bring back the draft, or end the war!

That someone chooses not to join the military is not necessarily a bad thing.

But to choose not to go into the military and then later talk about the glories of war, talk about looking forward to a civil war, and to demean those who did serve is the height of hypocracy and cowardice.
According to you, a liar.

And what would you call someone who avoided volunteering, and then talks about the glory of war, looks forward to a civil war, and demeans the service of those who did step up and serve?

A patriot.

A patriot would have volunteered. A patriot would not glorify wars that kill his countrymen for no real reason. And a patriot certainly would not look forward to a civil war. And a patriot would certainly not demean the service of those who did step up and volunteer.

In otherwords, bullshit!

How many of the Founding Fathers were soldiers? :)

I'd count the ones who signed the founding documents, of course. So by Solitary's logic, the remainder were not patriots.

Only if they had nothing to lose or risk from rebelling against their former government. Of course there are so many holes in that thought pattern that it hurts to think of.

Anyway, when I graduated high school, the country wasn't in a conflict and wouldn't be in one until Grenada, which was short-lived. There was no reason for me to enter the military, so I paid my own way through college. By the time the next major conflict came up I was too old.

A conflict is not the only reason for one to join the military. It certainly wasn't mine.
