FACT: Religious people are LESS intelligent, on average

Cliffnotes: Those that tend to have religious beliefs are on average, stupider and less intelligent people. Because they have inferior brains and IQ's, they are naturally drawn to mystical sky beings, much in the same way that they could stare at a carousel going around, mouth agape, for hours on end. Those that do not believe in god are SMARTER.

This is why stupid inferior primitive brains cannot grasp why the earth is older than 6000 years, or why the earth goes around the sun, or how evolution works, or that we didn't descend from corn, or why monkeys don't have a space program but humans do ( :good4u: ) - It's because they are on average stupider, more primitive people.

As such, us intelligent people should remind ourselves of our inferior counterparts, and deal gently with them, as they do not have the same processing power as the rest of us more intelligent people.

Secondly, the authors investigated the link between religiosity and intelligence on a country level. Among the sample of 137 countries, only 23 (17%) had more than 20% of atheists, which constituted “virtually all the higher IQ countries.”

The authors reported a correlation of 0.60 between atheism rates and level of intelligence, which is “highly statistically significant.”

Here is something I will prove with a chart. The higher the number of people that don't believe in god, the overall SMARTER a COUNTRY is:

Conclusions:


  • Stupid, inferior brains are attracted to religion.
  • Those that are less religious, also happen to be smarter. This is because SMART INTELLIGENT people, are more informed, and aren't attracted to silly fairy tales.
  • Countries that have less believers in god, tend to be SMARTER.
  • If you believe in god, you are VERY LIKELY to be a STUPIDER PERSON and have LOWER INTELLIGENCE.

This is not the first controversial survey done by the professor. He is maybe mostly known for his research results claiming that men have a higher IQ than women, and has for instance said to the Norwegian newspaper VG that stupid people should not get children.

that religious schools are some of the best....yet this guy "claims" you basically have to be an idiot to believe in god....

this guy also said white people are smarter than blacks and light skin blacks are smarter than dark skin blacks.....

In this country, due to socio-economic issues, this may be true, as blacks do not receive the equivalent education of white people.

Regardless, I provided multiple sources, you have provided no evidence to the contrary.

gee, let's pick those backward islamic countries that have very little school, throw them in the bunch, and then claim that ALL religious people are stupid....

There may be religious people who are smart, but you have done nothing to debunk the claim that the average religious person is dumber than the average atheist. It is a strawman.

And a lot of people who go to top religious schools probably don't go for religious reasons.

any religious school that happens to be the best is the best due to it's non-religious courses.

i don't need provide sources, your sources, as i pointed out above are complete meadowmuffins....they don't even stand up to minimum scrutiny....

and the above....give me a break....you do realize that you just shot your theory out of the sky....if you throw in all the countries, like low income muslim countries who do not have the same education as others, then it is due to socio economis issues, NOT religion

I had another chart examining GDP and religiousity. It's pretty much the same results. i will fetch it.

what countries were the tested in? what was their socio-economic status? what religion?

the study is rather lacking in specifics....and the socio economic factor is a large factor, such that it could wipe out the whole theory

again....what are the specifics...who were the people tested?

if i compared saudi arabia to england....guess what my results would show....you guessed, religious people are not as intelligent as atheists....

i'm telling you, i would not count this theory to mean anything....many of his other theories have been soundly trashed....
 
How many questions may have been biased towards non-religious beliefs? (I actually don't know what test they may have taken, some of them have specific science questions that could be construed to be answered incorrectly if answered from the basis of spirituality rather than of knowledge).
 
Yeah, I think yurt is right. There is another cause that was not controlled. There are some serious outliers including some of the highest IQs being in generally religious nations. But I am guessing if you did control for the socio-economic factors the religious would look even stupider.

The US is smart and generally religious.
