People do not understand that sending the gentleman into orbit served two purposes, the regular space program stuff, and it showed the US (and the rest of the world of course) that it can launch a missile in space and land it wherever it wanted, it now has intercontinental missiles to deliver its nuclear weapons.

Is it a threat? It depends on if you view them as an enemy or how much you think our debt will keep them in line. I believe it is.

They would have had ICBM's anyway. The space program itself doesn't bother me.
They would have, but not demonstrably, the space program served to show that they can land them with accuracy.

Also, previous to that they did not, per intel, have that capacity. Now for sure they do.
