Western Countries Face Shortages of Mineral Resources

Future-oriented industries, such as those manufacturing solar panels, are being held back by shortages because of China's control of essential metals.

While smelting companies in the West are reluctant to make substantial investments needed to obtain important minerals, which use processes that are labor and energy intensive, China, with a cheap labor force and lax environmental laws, can extract the materials at a cost that Western nations cannot meet.

What do you propose?

China is out buying oil all over the world, which they will control the supply of a lot more in 10 years. It won't happen fast like last time, but another huge oil spike is coming.

So buy oil stocks.

I work for Chevron so I actually have way too much oil in my holdings.
I do frequently buy FXI which is a large China ETF that has the National Oil company in the index.

They havent had confidence in the dollar for years.

Then why do they keep on buying it in droves? OH yeah, trade manipulation and somesuch.

There would be nothing better for America and worse for China than for China to drop the dollar.

You're just a bunch of ignorant fearmongers.

China controls the minerals for THEIR needs. Just as we try to do for our own. If our environmental laws do not allow for the minerals to be extracted here, then we either have to pay more for the Chinese minerals or we have to find an alternative means of production.

The Chinese are not trying to control all these things so they can make more money, they are trying to control all of them so they can weaken the rest of the world. The Chinese are probably the most imperialist government on the face of the planet. They have no good intentions and never have.

China's authoritarian capitalism is the latest world domination challenge. Only time will tell if it can beat out democracy. I can tell you for sure that under authoritarian capitalism the lifestyles suck compared to ours.

Meh, in Singapore it's alright, as long as you're not the one being executed for selling a joint or a member of some sort of opposition party.

Major nations must work together for the continued health of their economies. Why buy dollars? Maybe because they are cheap. Maybe because in time the US will regain its former position of a power house of the world's economy. Maybe to spread investments.
We were looking at US property a few months ago but everything we found that looked good could not compare with alternative investments. And we couldnt find anything that looked good that wasnt made of wood! Hardly a good way to spend limited funds.
Granted it was not a detailed search.

total and complete garbage.
who have they invaded, vs who haven't we invaded.
NUFF SAID
Xinjiang (1949), Tibet (1950-51), Vietnam, North Korea. But you are right, they have spent most of their existence violently oppressing their OWN PEOPLE so that fighting outside their borders would be too dificult.
