Train Derailment causing CHERNOBYL in ohio. Pedo Joe Biden does nothing.

Of course they SAY that, you moron. But the tanks of chemicals sat there for 3 days after the derailment before they did the so called "controlled burn". 3 days!!! That tells me there was no emergency. THINK

I promise you that your dog shit "opinions" will never supersede governmental determination.

' There is no East Palestine. It is West Israel.
God gave it to us '

haw, haw....................................haw.

Just remember, this is the EPA that did this, deliberately. The "experts" on environmental disasters created an environmental disaster because it was supposedly the best way to deal with derailed tank cars full of nasty chemicals...

But, it's okay... 71% of the people in that county in Ohio voted for Trump...
Well as I explained to you in another thread…they had darned good reasons to do a controlled burn.

Ah! That’s hyperbole. There are far worse chemicals that could have spilled here than vinyl chloride.

There were three major chemicals in this spill. Most of it was glycols which aren’t particularly hazardous and there was a tanker of acrylates too plus the five tankers of vinyl chloride which was the most hazardous of the cargo.

One fortunate thing is vinyl chloride is a Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) with a flash point well below zero deg F and is a gas at room temperatures. All of the chemicals spilled are biodegradable so from a remediation standpoint that makes things a lot easier. Most of the vinyl chloride contamination remaining after the burn will have evaporated.

Actually by remediation standards this project won’t be a particularly large project. My understanding is that most of the heavily contaminated soil has been shipped just 35 miles down the road where Heritage has a hazardous waste incinerator and the low level contaminated soil is being hauled to US-Ecology of Michigan and Heritage’s subtitle D hazardous waste landfill for treatment and disposal. I also understand a large percentage of the contaminated waters captured by the diversion canal and well they have built is being shipped to Texas Molecular in Deer Park, TX where it will be managed by deep well injection. I know US Ecology has deep wells too so they are probably shipping it there too.

So don’t get me wrong this was a serious disaster but from an environmental standpoint they should have things pretty well remediated by the end of the year. Probably sooner. This is not going to be a hard one to clean up. Plus with all the attention this is getting they’ll have the resources to do it quickly and by all accounts they are moving quickly (though certainly not quick enough for the residents of East Palestine).

So no question this is a catastrophic disaster for the folks of East Palestine the long term consequences should be negligible. It’s the short term stuff that’s going to hurt the most.

Though there will be constant air, water and soil testing for a long time to come. I imagine that’s not going to help property values in East Palestine.

We get lied to and betrayed by our government all the time now, stop being a chump.

If they would tell such lies about COVID then there is not a damn thing that they wont lie about, they certainly dont give a fuck about either the truth or us.

Dude…this is what I do for a living and I don’t have faith in the government. The overwhelming majority of the work will be done by us private sector folks. Which is a good thing as we tend to significantly more competent than our government counterparts.

As opposed to the private sector folks who lobbied against the very rules and regulations that would have prevented such an accident? Like it or not...federal oversight and accountability is necessary. It's up to you and me to threaten our representatives with unemployment to keep things like FEMA honest and effective.

Oh good retort! That’s a very valid point but there’s also more accountability in the private sector too as the ones that were wrong are about to get fired and their company will be very, very lucky to be alive. Only the government can bail them out and if they do railroad executives heads will be rolling all over the place and the government will insist current management is sweeper out.

What about dioxin, how much of that has been created by the controlled burn?

The train crew were well aware that a bearing was overheating some 30 miles away yet they still ploughed on regardless. I sit back and await the usual stream of consciousness bullshit you're rightly famous for. That's not to say that the brakes shouldn't be updated but that wasn't the reason why the train derailed.

I have no idea if any was. It’s possible since vinyl chloride is a halogenated organic but it’s not exactly a dioxin precursor but if any was produced at all it would probably be more in the pico gram range of contamination. Which is a trillionth of a gram.

Now if you want to know about a dioxin disaster google Times Beach Missouri. Talk about one of the stupidest comedies of errors. What a cluster fuck that was. It’s just so unbelievable what happened but it happened. The consequences were pretty serious too.

But if you really want to see an environmental disaster of such unbelievable proportions as to make this incident seem insignificant by comparison go visit a strip mine.

Yeah, but the problem there is that inevitably the private sector is beholden to it's INVESTORS, NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. And pockets of our Congress are beholden to PAC and lobbyist in general. Combine that with what you said, and its round & round we go. Only the threat of removal of office (i.e., losing an election) is the power you and I have.

I would have agreed with you 10 years ago but today isn't it obvious that our federal regulators care more about cushy future private sector jobs that actually doing their jobs as regulators? We are a fascist nation.

I would suggest that it is highly likely that dioxins like 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin or TCDD, the toxic contaminant in Agent Orange are very likely to be present. Apparently the EPA is only now getting round to testing for it.

We're getting there, but not just yet. If people believe they are powerless and it's hopeless, they will act accordingly. Like it or not, the election of AOC and the GOP just barely holding an edge shows it can be done just like I said.

Hope springs eternal.
