Is a drag show free speech.

Ok, then an AR-15 is not a protected firearm.

Yes, it is protected. It is a man portable weapon useful on a battlefield which allows you to discriminate between targets. I'd think that a lawyer would know the law. So what do you really do for a living Jarod? I know it's not lawyering.

I still haven’t heard what kind of restrictions they want to put on drag shows … and what that has to do with free speech. Has this thread failed?

The lawyers that I know are literate and don’t post all day on political forums.

He’s probably on welfare and hasn’t worked in 50 years.

Depends on which state you reside in as to the restrictions.

The First Amendment protects more than just written, oral or signed speech. It also protects many other actions designed to convey ideas. The legal terms for these actions are “expressive conduct” or “symbolic speech.”[/FONT]

[h=3]Why Tennessee's law limiting drag performances likely violates the First Amendment

[/h]

Interesting how does any school take any child on a field trip without parental permission?

I expect that they knew that no parent (except a few far left Democratic Socialist parents) would want their children exposed to this filth and perversion.

"Video of a drag show yesterday in Columbia, Missouri. Columbia Public Schools took students there without informing parents that their child would be attending a drag show."

Interesting.... how does any school take any child on a field trip without parental permission? And you are correct... this thread isn't about free speech at all....

If only teechur cud reed.

As Libs of TikTok reported, permission slips for the field trip only made passing reference to what would take place, noting that "traditionally there are songs, performances, and a food item."

From the 2nd article. (R)s are trying to move the goalposts again. Why aren't they focusing on the issues they campaigned on last year? Like immigration, inflation?

Current Supreme Court decisions suggest that laws like the one just passed in Tennessee probably violate the First Amendment’s protection of free speech. This is, in part, because many drag performances are protected by the First Amendment, which safeguards not only spoken, written, and signed speech but also many other actions meant to convey messages.

Republican legislators appear to have written the law to try to avoid running afoul of the First Amendment by treating drag shows as if they meet the legal definition of obscenity. Speech, including expressive conduct, that meets the Supreme Court’s criteria for obscenity is not covered by First Amendment protection.

without parental permission you can't even give student a ride home from an athletic practice... how did they think they would get away with this?;) Looks like whatever information they sent home was not accurate... so anything that the parents signed would be invalid...

Indeed.

I hope that the parents sue the school district, contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Why can't these far left loons leave the children alone?

Mierda, such as this, is why parents are sending their children to private schools or home schooling.

Yes. At least the ones I've seen. They are not even any more suggestive than a typical music video. Good luck with the pornography argument. I suspect that there are many ways a government entity could attempt to shut them down (zoning, liquor licenses, etc), but I doubt a blanket ban would hold up in court. I'm sure we'll get the chance to find out.

How sad is it that THIS is what the nutters are worried about. Not inflation, or the wage/wealth gap, or global warming, or mass shootings. Nope. They are worried about drag queens.

Any restrictions would be a restriction on free speech, it is my position that reasonable restrictions are okay, but that means reasonable restrictions are also okay with firearms.

The Second Amendment does not mention "reasonable restrictions."

And if by chance the teachers did not realize that it was going to be a drag show when they sent the permission slips out once they got there it would have been obvious that it was.. at that point you say "look kids...this isn't what we signed up for...or got permission for"... and you call the bus back...;)

I seriously doubt if the drag show that concluded the seminar that pEarl and Toxic are obsessing about had even a hint of naughtiness. Just the mere words "drag show" triggers them. The event was a "diversity breakfast." Now they're upset that some actual diversity was presented. lol

.

I don't know what you see, but I just see some chunky guys dressed up as women singing some songs. Original source is here.
