Can someone explain the Bud Light boycott to me?

I googled the commercial and saw it on youtube before you posted. thank you for your effort

Apparently, they used a transgender in one of their ads or something, which caused snowflakes like Kid Rock to break out his AR and shoot up a bunch of Bud Light cases in protest, and artists like Travis Tritt to call for a boycott.

Are transgenders criminals or something? Don't they have the same citizenship status as everyone else?

If the thing is that it's a "sin" or something like that, are we going to start calling for boycotts of anything endorsed by adulterers or liars? And why hasn't any artist like that called for a boycott of the church over the latest, unbelievably staggering abuse scandal?

Any ideas are welcome.

Maybe Kid Rock was just seeking some much needed attention. Budweiser obviously felt they also needed some attention by moving to a much more feminine audience.

I am sure women everywhere will be proud to join Bud's new mascot.

It's a "transgender bottle" now?

I mean, that's really absurd.

You don't have to support and defend everything the right does. There are no rules around that.

ExLax plays a doktor online and pushes HCQ as a COVID cure. Is it really strange that he believes drinking a particular brand of beer will make him gay, transgender or otherwise change his sexuality?

Whataboutism, as always.

I've opposed boycotts on both sides. I do think this one in particular is weird - thus the question of the OP title. I don't get it. Is the message "stop treating the trans community like they're actual citizens?"
I'm opposed to boycotts because they often hurt people that have not been part of the decision being protested. That being said both sides boycott but the left does it more. IMHO Bud should stick to selling beer. Too many good old boys drink beer and would prefer frogs to transgenders in their beer commercials.

It depends what it's for. Boycotts are pretty ham-handed in general, and hurt a lot of people who have nothing to do w/ the behavior you're hoping to change.

I think they can be effective if a company is doing something really damaging - like the one to encourage dolphin-free nets for tuna companies. But this one for Bud Light just seems to celebrate intolerance.

I agree this one is stupid, and will very likely be ineffective. But I’m not willing to criticize the method just because I do not agree with the cause.

I’m not a big fan of Bud Light, but ima go buy a case tonight for a friend who loves it.

Yeah they printed up some of those aluminium "bottles" with Dylan Mulvaney's likeness too. My main objection is that he is such a twit. At any rate I'm boycotting Budweiser........because I don't drink at all. Easiest boycott ever. :rofl2: There are many more mature transgenders that are much more deserving than that little twit.

Seems like they are going out of their way to aim advertising at a different group than one represented by Kid Rock and, for some reason that I can't fathom, Kid Rock seems to care a bunch about that. Basically this seems most like an anti-"cancel" event, where instead of cancel culture cancelling for no woke, it is now anti-cancel culture cancelling for "too much" woke....

Personally I wouldn't buy Bud Light or Bud if it had great ads, but then I like good beer. If I did buy it and was somehow insulted by advertising to some other group I'd just not buy it, but I don't and no kind of advertising will convince me that barely yellow colored barley pop has flavor.

The left does it more? Are you saying that the right supports corruption?

And who cares about the beer? MAGA manlets need to lose weight anyway.

Trappists have a saying. Beer should be liquid bread, not colored water.

i participate on one boycott, but only because Pink demanded that I do so

A fool and his money are soon parted.

I agree w/ most of that. This just seemed like such a minor part of their marketing, to expand their audience a bit. I think from the company's perspective, they want to have as many disparate groups as possible drinking their product. But for sure, if someone doesn't like it, or the beer, just don't drink it.

Kid Rock's reaction was really something. I would have thought Bud Light was partnering with ISIS or Putin or something. I suppose, as I think one poster pointed out, he needs a bit of attention these days.
