Fort Hood Terrorist Permanently Paralized

Imagine, thinking you were going to Paradise to meet your eleventy-two virgins (or whatever it is they are promised) and winding up in a US prison in a wheel chair...

I think life imprisonment would be a far worse punishment than death.
Almost every poll of prisoners says just that, if they had a choice between living every last day of their life in Prison until they die of natural causes, or be executed, most would rather die quick.

His time in prison will be paradise compared to after his death.

well in that case, seeing that life is more cruel, we should be giving the death penalty out more frequently for humanitarian purposes.

there is nothing more I hate than disingenious assholes saying:

"The death penalty is cruel, we shoudln't do that"

and then in the same breath go:

"Life in prison is far worse, so we should do that instead!" As if this will win over death penalty proponents. Just be honest and say life in prison isn't as bad and that you are against the death penalty because it is wrong.

(not directing this at you soc)

If this asshole gets lfe, instead of a bullet in the head, there will be some Muslims in the prison that will treat him like a king. They'll make sure he has access to what ever he wants.

My way of thinking is the death penalty is wrong because of the chance a mistake could be made. There is no way to correct that mistake and we know people have been wrongly convicted of crimes and have spent decades in jail.

Perhaps having the option is the answer. If one knows they are innocent but will, in all likelihood, spend the rest of their life in jail maybe they would prefer to die. In that case the death penalty would be appropriate, as an option.

this is why the sentencing phase should have remained in the peoples hands, not sitting on the bench with a judge. If a judge makes a mistake, he just gets to sit back and claim 'qualified immunity' and carry on with his tyranny. If the decision rests in the hands of the people, they actually have to soul search.

Do you honestly think that it should take a unanimous jury of 12 randomly selected, non-death proofed jurors to impose a death sentence? What's honestly the probability of ever not coming up on a person like me, who would refuse to apply the death sentence under any circumstances?

If they'll vote for abolition, they're on my side. I don't care how fucked up they think.

then I would think its the ideal situation. if a death sentence cannot be issued for whatever reasons, it reverts to Life without parole. it's a win/win all around.

just for you, i'd make an exception for maricopa county law enforcement.

You should be sentenced to death.

A very slow death.

I remember hearing that before and I think they are full of it, most have the chance to commit suicide, hardly any of them do it though.
