Founding Fathers burned Tree

Article I, Section 9, clause 2: The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.

yeah, and ONLY by congress, not the executive branch, however, THAT is specifically mentioned. that one single specific mention does not give carte blanche to expand federal powers during wartime. or do you disagree?

The Patriot Act was passed by Congress, and it ain't carte blanche.

Not so much. I just withheld Section 9 clause 2 to allow y'all to hang yourselves.

yes, so much. you didn't prove anything other than we were right. Times of war does not give the government power to violate the 4th Amendment. Habeus corpus has nothing to do with the 4th Amendment.

in other words, you fail.

Semantics. Being held indefinitely without trial is a far greater violation that listening in on his conversation with terrorists.

This is simple plain-language interpretation.

No, THIS argument is semantics. you want to argue levels of violations because one has an actual adverse effect while one may go completely undetected. ANY violation is serious, not just the ones that have actual physical harm.

This is simple plain-language interpretation.
which we showed you your errors in.

Your rights aren't violated if there's no conviction.

WTF? I was just reading som eof the threads I have missed, and ran into this one.

I cannot believe you even managed to type this. Unless there is a conviction your rights weren't violated?

lmao
