Death is too good for this monster

again, we don't know if this actually happened, too funny how you're so quick to convict when its someone you don't like, yet slow to do so otherwise

I read all the links given and googled a few others. What I didn't find is any denial by arpaio that this happened. IMO he would have been all over the news defending his reputation if this was a lie. Maybe you can come up with something I didn't.

If it turns out to be false, I'll condemn the woman's actions as much as you do, but so far I haven't seen anything to condemn.

please list these other links....

seems to me you're convicting him because you haven't found a denial....maybe it is still under investigation and since you called others to caution in another thread because it was under investigation, perhaps you could extend that same caution here....

Here are two hits for you. Note that the story first came to light OCTOBER 24, over a month ago. Again I ask, where's arpaio's denial? It's my view that most people unjustly accused are really quick to defend themselves, and especially so when the act has news coverage. arpaio could have made a statement to the effect that he's innocent and a full investigation will prove it ... but he didn't.

don't you find it odd that the alleged incident happened over a year ago, yet only came to light a month ago?

i don't want to directly attack your sources....but you haven't provided one source from a news agency, only liberal blogs that all cite the OP source....you haven't given me any different source than the OP.....anything from a main stream source?

maybe he hasn't denied it because he hasn't heard about it....

for maricopa county, that's not that odd at all. the media in that area are sorta like the MSM for the Obama administration. If it's negative, ignore it.

its been out for over a month on left wing sites....no other media has picked up on it....you're saying this is so because the sheriff owns the media there or that they are conservative and overly biased? seems strange given how hot button issue the sheriff is.....

and again, the alleged incident happened over a year ago, yet it just gets picked up and only on left wing sites....

The original was in Phoenix New Times which appears to be a local news agency, not a liberal blog.

If this woman is trying to shed light on arpaio's practices, more power to her. He doesn't get so much bad publicity because he's squeaky clean. Have you ever researched the man?

"From 2004 through November 2007, Arpaio was the target of 2,150 lawsuits in U.S. District Court and hundreds more in Maricopa County courts, with more than $50 million in claims being filed,[38] 50 times as many prison-conditions lawsuits as the New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston jail systems combined.[39] Allegations of cruel treatment of inmates as well as living conditions have been cited by Amnesty International in a report issued on the treatment of inmates in Maricopa County facilities."[4]

i did not see the phoenix times in any of your links....could you re link that, thanks....

inmates are always suing the state or police officers, this should not be what you use to judge a person....it doesn't matter if 1 billion dollars in claims have been filed....has he been found guilty of anything? don't forget, a settlement does not mean guilty and most likely has nothing to do with him settling, it is up the state, not him....

What I'm asking is if you've ever read anything about arpaio besides this current story.

bias? in a way, yes. The local media outlets fawn over arpaio like the MSM does Obama.

thank you...the only thing i've heard about him is he makes inmates wear pink...

from your link it appears it was not arpaio that shackled her:

"That's not necessary," the paramedic told the officer.

"It's my job," the officer responded. The guard was a Latina.

She thought she would be released from the shackles once she arrived at the hospital, but she wasn't.

The officer chained her ankle to one leg of the hospital bed.

the link also mentions it is their policy to restrain inmates in unsecured facilities (sheriff spokesman) and that the only thing arpaio denied was that he did not deny her access to the baby....

so, it does appear she was shackled, but not by arpaio. if this is their policy, it absolutely needs looking into....becuase it appears it does not take into account this specific type of incident where shackles seem harsh and uncalled for.....

as it stands, arpaio did not shackle her and we have no evidence the sheriff specifically ordered the officer to shackle her, it looks like the officer made a judgement call and followed ordinary procedures

....so the thread claim is false as it stands from your own links

Sheriff Joe Arpaio Forces Woman to Give Birth While Shackled

1118arpaio_article.jpg

The news team for Telemundo 52 recently reported on Alma Minerva Chacon, a women who was terrorized by Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Unfortunately, she is just the latest in a long line of Latinos who have suffered at the hands of the ruthless Sheriff whose personal goal is to rid Arizona of all "illegals" and just maybe, all Latinos. Arpaio has repeatedly stated that he is breaking no laws and just enforcing the constitution by arresting more than 600 Latinos a year. But the problem with his tactics is that less than half of those arrested are even in this country illegally.
The most recent atrocity committed by the self-proclaimed "America's Toughest Sheriff" involves a woman who was detained while 9-months pregnant. Alma Minerva Chacon's case has been receiving media attention due to the brutality with which she was treated. The very same night of her arrest, Chacon went into labor and found herself afraid and alone, being rushed to a local hospital with her hands and legs chained in shackles.
Once she reached the hospital, nurses repeatedly begged the Sheriff's staff to allow them to unchain the mother, but they refused and Chacon was forced to give birth while still shackled to the bed. At one point, the nurse asked for them to release her so that she could be escorted to the bathroom for a urinalysis, but even that request was denied. But the worst came once Chacon gave birth to her baby girl.
Still chained to the bed, Arpaio's police staff refused to allow Chacon to hold her newborn baby and then warned her that if no one came to pick up the child within 72 hours, she would be turned over into state custody. Telemundo 52 sat down with Chacon and let her tell her side of the story. Check out the interview below and if you don't support Sheriff Arpaio's barbaric practices sign the petition at www.SheriffJoeMustGo.com:

I use to live in Phoenix, this asshole is still the sheriff? It's time for this cowboy to go, his kind of justice is from a bygone era, like before the time when Arizona became a state! I signed the petition too!

Just For WM

A new Rasmussen poll of Arizona finds that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is known nationally for his hard-line stance against illegal immigration, would be the strongest possible Republican candidate for governor in next year's election.

Democratic state Attorney General Terry Goddard, the likely Dem nominee for governor, was tested against three Republicans. Goddard leads incumbent Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, who succeeded to the office after Dem Gov. Janet Napolitano was appointed Secretary of Homeland Security, by 44%-35%. Goddard edges state Treasurer Dean Martin by 40%-38%, within the ±3% margin of error.

Arpaio, however, leads Goddard by a convincing margin of 51%-39%. He is not currently a candidate, but that could change with numbers like these.

Can you say Governor Arpaio.

Arizona would elect Goebbels if they could resurrect him.

if proven go after the sheriff if proven false then go after the author

please post separately when proof if found

it seems surprising, given convicted inmates at AZ prisons do not require shackling during birth

i question this because no 1983 claim has been brought and all you've provided is her account of what allegedly occurred over a year ago

They're not denying it.

When questioned later about the incident, Sheriff Joe Arpaio said, "I wasn't the one who kept her from holding the baby. Ask the hospital."

Sheriff's Office policy states that jail inmates be restrained for "security reasons in an unsecured facility," said Jack MacIntyre, an MCSO deputy chief. McIntyre said a 12-foot chain link was attached to Chacón's leg.

"Let's assume someone is faking labor — that's a hypothetical — and she then chose to escape and hit or assault the hospital staff," McIntyre said. "She could do that easily because it's an unsecured area."

Hospital records mentioned that Chacón had a forensic restraint on her ankle. Doctors turned down a request from New Times to talk about her case, even after Chacón gave consent for the release of her medical files.
