What did she say that people claim was offensive?

You truly are incredibly ignorant, you ought to be bloody embarrassed!

I like the fact that you liked Jarod's post and I think the link you provided him is a good one, but I don't think chastisizing him for asking his question was called for. I think it's a good thing he asked, and hope that he comes to agree that some of the transgender movement has gone way too far.

He doesn't really want to know, I've know him long enough to say that.

Well, I don't really know him that well and am still hoping he is moved by this information :-)

Rowling has done a magnificent job with this and she's probably the perfect one to do it as she has the ability to let all the flak roll off her back.
There advantages to being wealthy. She really does not have to care.
But God bless her for doing this for the women and girls in the UK. Got rid of that horrible person Sturgeon, now she just needs to make them do something about the illegals who also want to rape everything with a vagina.

I think it's more that she cares about biological women and girls and is willing to stand out and point out that there are in fact differences between biological women and people who identify as women but are not biologically so.

It's not off the rails it's leftism.

When it comes to the witch hunting of J.K. Rowling, I certainly agree that it's the left that's gone off the rails. But other issues such as the funding of the war in Ukraine is a bi partisan "deep state" thing.

Oh yes there are bad actors on both sides. I generally ignore the Ukraine Russia thing

‘‘People who menstruate,’’

I guess all women who don’t, or never did, have to give back their woman card.

I'm leary of the word "woke" because it's so ambiguous, but I think we can agree that 'witch hunting' of J.K. Rowling was off the rails.
No, “we” can not all agree. The stars of the movies her books were based upon even spoke out against her. She’s the one off the rails.

There was a trans boy in our neighborhood when my son was growing up. The kids just dealt with him like another person. They thought of him like a curiosity and nobody was lured into becoming one. How does a guy or girl identifying as the other sex cause others to be that way? When my son talked about him, it was just like another kid in the neighborhood. He was not judgemental.

The increase in children saying they are transgender is up 95% from five years ago. If you don’t believe they are being influenced to claim that then you are misleading yourself

So once again consensus is truth? If everyone says slavery is ok then slavery is ok. If everyone says Rowling is wrong then rowling is wrong. Is that about how it works? Tyranny of the majority and evryone repeating a lie makes it true. Do you people even try to think?

I imagine you're quoting J.K. Rowling there. For those who may not be aware of the quote and the context:

**
It all blew up in the summer of 2020.

“‘People who menstruate,’” Rowling wrote on Twitter [link in original], quoting a headline. “I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”

She continued [link in original]: “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”

It’s hard to capture the breadth of the firestorm that followed.

J.K. never said that people who don't menstruate aren't women. She was implying that people who -do- menstruate are women. Now, I think she would have been better off by saying that only -biological- women can menstruate, with perhaps an asterisk that there are some people with genitalia of both genders who can menstruate as well. That being said, I think the rest of what she says above provides some good context.

Another important point is that she mentioned -sex- and not gender. Even articles that are strongly support of people identifying as the gender they wish acknowledge that when it comes to sex, there's some pretty exacting criteria. Quoting from one such article:

**
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, everyone is assigned a sex at birth based on their genetics and body parts, and your sex is not the same as your gender.

You raised him right. Good job!
