I was corrected on being Atheist. I am not Atheist. My spiritual views are atheistic. No, I am not nitwit Atheist scum pretending to be a scientist. I am the poster who is continually confronting such nitwits, to remind them that science doesn't draw conclusions and presume absolutes. Never has, never will... but these so-called 'scientists' want to think that way all the time.

.999999e does = 1. The trouble is Dixie won't admit that they're the same value. He even said something to the effect of, "It doesn't pass the sesamee street test! One doesn't look like the other!"
 
In other words, the notations 0.999… and 1 represent the same real number. This equality has long been accepted by professional mathematicians and taught in textbooks. Proofs have been formulated with varying degrees of mathematical rigour, taking into account preferred development of the real numbers, background assumptions, historical context, and target audience.

Man, after actually reading Dixie's proof, it turns out he proves 1 = .99999e all by himself while trying to prove it doesn't

1÷3=.3333333E

.3333333E x 3= .9999999E

1 divided by 3 equals product x (.333333e) then product x multiplied by 3 comes out to value y (.9999999e) which has to equal 1 since he's multiplying by the same number by which he divided. I forget the property. Transitive property I think.
