I will just leave this to the folks who know more than me...and who don't castigate someone for making what appears to be a very tough decision.
As to Topper's question about me (or family memeber) "over there." Right now the count is at 17 and rising of the number of family members who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan....8 of them nephews and nieces. My kid is in 1st grade...when he gets old enough if it is still only up to me it will be his choice as to whether he wants to go into the military or not.

I will agree with this to an extent. I think many members of our congress are corrupt. I fall short of thinking every one of them is.:

Where there is power there is usually corruption. More power , more corruption. This current government is backed by the US, which means it has more power and is wayyyyy more corrupt.
The Taliban pale in comparison.
The main thing that has changed in Afghanistan is who is collecting the spoils(Profits of the war). With European and American elites at the top of the pyramid.

Most people believe all the hype. Mass manipulation is very effective. They say if you repeat a lie enough times, the people will perceive it as the truth.
And I'd like to add that the more power means more corruption since power is usally defined by numbers which means there are more people with their hands in the coockie jar....
