Once again, for the cheap seats: No one is denying that the source of the e-mails is valid. The question is whether or not the hacker/blogger who stole them did a nifty job of editing to his personal viewpoints liking. THAT is what the UN investigation is about. I've got no problem with weeding out fraud.
And remember, chuckles...this is just ONE source of information. Disproving a few cheaters does NOT disprove ALL the aspects and researchers and scientists.
As always, you live up to your own screen name description. Laugh, clown, laugh.
The fact of the matter is that water levels are rising and this is caused by more water and this is caused by melting ice and this is caused by a slight increase in the overall temperature of the planet.
Now it may be argued that man has played no part in this and it may be argued that he is entirely responsible. As usual the more the black and white are shouted from the mountain tops the more grey is hidden from view.
The amount that man has affected the climate, as far as I am concerned, is of little importance. What is important is that in the year 2009 we find ourselves with the technology or at least the general desire, not lo let our presence do more harm than is necessary.
Unfortunately, the naysayers cannot see the grey. Everything to them is black or white, right or wrong, good or bad.
If we are to improve the way we all live it is that naivety, that has been thrust on millions of us by manipulatary dis-education systems, that must change. There are, doubtless, places in the wilds of America and in the unknown reaches of Canada (Ottawa for instance) where springs still gush pure water and rivers and streams are still clean, cool and good to drink, but these places are too few.
The days of going for a hike on the beautiful green hills and valleys of England equipped only with a packet of biscuits and a knowledge of where to find hazel nuts and blackberries and relying on the cold bubbling chalk springs are long gone.
We have made a mess of the world and we need to clean it up for those that will come when we are gone. Its happening - slowly. But we need to take strong action, not against scientists and politicians but against those that profit by our carelessness. We have to FORCE stores to ditch GM foods, ditch the idea that apples and tomatoes must be of uniform size and colour. We need to rediscover the basics of human existence.
Here endeth the second lesson
