I'm guessing it was as much political self interest and the knowledge that Republicans would get most of the blame if the economy suffered as a result of their recalcitrance, that was the driving force behind this sudden onset of a cooperative spirit.
I'm guessing if the repugs had better leverage he wouldn't have given an inch.

And this is only the beginning, we will go thru it all again in five months when the budget is due, which is where you are suppose to deal with debt, not when you are honoring your bills due
Trumpers in Congress will blow it up. They'll follow Trump's orders to go into default.

I've seen enough of McCarthy's act by now to what what kind of person he is and what values he represents.

Biden got what he wanted very little money for the Military and his student loans and green agenda were not touched

Our military budget is larger than the next 12 countries put together. Several of the countries are allies. We have an enormous military budget. We should cut it drastically.
What is the ratio of military budget to GDP between all the countries?
I have security cameras around my house and property but expect that a corporation or large store (e.g. Walmart) would have a much larger budget for their security systems.
Consider the Trumpers whining about US payments to the UN, of which we are behind. It's based upon a percentage of GDP. The world's largest economy would therefore pay more than the world's smallest economy.
