Before Sigourney Weaver in Aliens, female actors were basically not allowed to be tough and lethal action heroes. They pretty much got limited to delicate flower roles, or the evil bitch roles.

I don't think anyone under the age of 80 bats an eye anymore at a Lara Croft tomb raider or Jennifer Lawrence, Hunger Games film.

Good point about Weaver although I don't remember much controversy about the movies.

I do recall some women's groups complaining about the sexually revealing appearance of Lara Croft, which followed the artwork of the game. The Jumanji sequel even made a joke about it when Martha as Ruby Roundhouse said "Why am I wearing this outfit in a jungle? Tiny, little shorts and a leather halter top. I mean, what is this?"

"Only 60%" ??? The next closest ethnicity is Hispanic, which is ONLY around 20%. Blacks are ONLY around 12%.

And by "dropping fast", whether intentional or not, what you're actually saying, is that at some point maybe around a century or so from now, whites will "ONLY" comprise around 50% of the population or slightly less, meaning we will no longer be the majority, but we will still represent the largest SINGLE ETHNIC BLOCK, while the other 50% will be divided between everyone else.

I'm not sure you quite understand the gist or thrust of this conversation.

I meant the negative publicity from the media screaming about Hollywood and the film industry being racist because they don't hand out leading roles to black actors based solely on their race.

Which is what I believe was OBVIOUSLY done with this movie.

The media loves controversy and they fan the flames of it whenever possible.

They also love victims and David vs Goliath stories. Why? Because it sells. It draws readers and viewers like flies to a picnic.

In this case, blacks started complaining about not getting enough top movie roles (even though blacks are just over 12% of the population) and started making the usual accusations of racism in the film industry, so immediately the studios start handing out white roles to black actors rather than creating new roles for them.

All that other stuff you said has nothing to do with anything.

Casting lead actors based on skin color in order to mollify one of the smallest minorities in the country is the opposite of capitalism.

When I was a kid in the mid 60's, my favorite TV heroine was a female private eye/secret agent named Honey West, played by Anne Francis....
