This thread is about guns. Try to stay on topic. If you want to talk about that go to that thread. Once again go to the FBI website and look at the UCR yourself. Other wise fuck off. This is not a black and white issue.Guns are not in fact the problem,their just a tool. Its the people who use them. Without a person operating them they just sit there.
The thing is this tool is very dangerous to operate,and most people are idiots.
There needs to be some amount of regulation.Also a great many of gun fatalities are accidents from people who don't know how to use them. Regulations are needed to insure public safety when it comes to guns.You wouldn't want to have some stupid kid blow his brains out because.
Thye fact is that guns are designed for killing.And most of them designed to kill humans.NOt for recreation.The fact is that having fun isn't a very good reason to keep them around.

For my violent offenders class we had a book from the late 80's (we're using it cause my prof really likes it) and the criminal justice historian talked about guns and mentioned a fun fact I didn't know. He mentioned during the beginning of the U.S. with the second amendment every house was required to have a gun and every male military age had to every month go to training. The idea was because there wasn't a standing army at the time.

We are in partial agreement; because a gun is just a tool.
Cars have been used to attack and kill large groups of people.
I don't think any guns were involved when someone used a truck of fertilize to make a bomb and blow up a Federal building or when another group highjacked some planes and killed over 3000 people.

Actually that's why cars and airplanes are regulated and licensed . They can be use to cause harm.Im not for totally outlawing guns.Only making sure that they are used safely.

Why don't we use the existing laws to punish thiose that violate the laws we already have, instead of allowing perps to plea bargain the charges down to something less!! :good4u:

I learn that in high school history class. Some people were not paying attention when that came up on the test.

I dont like the plea bargaining system.Its no bargain. It causes innocent people to be imprisoned while letting the guilty off on a lesser sentencing then they deserve.

That's all well and good; but why aren't we making it really uncomfortable for those that violtate the existing laws, instead of adding more laws for the law abiding to adhere to??

We do. But there's only so far you can punish someone before it becomes cruel and unusual punishment. Just because the criminals wont follow the rules doesn't mean that we can start treating them inhumanly.

You are missing the point. The fact is that AF women do tend to cut, overdose, etc. rather than use lethal force. In otherwards, they don't seem to behave any differently than their civillian counterparts when it comes to attempting suicide.

You're the one suggesting I meant inhumanly.
I'm talking about not allowing plea bargains for crimes where a gun was used.

Why should we create more laws to hinder the law abiding??

No. but I agree we should do away with plea bargaining.It doesn't serve justice.WE dont need more laws. We have to many already.
 
We do still need plea bargaining, because the case load is WAY too big for the Court system to handle. But I agree that violent crime can certainly do without it to some extent, seeing as how trial is more ideal at dispensing true justice on bad perps.
