Sheldon Whitehouse was right all along: The Supreme Court is corrupt

Whitehouse explained that dark-money groups such as the Federalist Society, led for years by Leonard Leo, put together a list of acceptable high court nominees from which President Donald Trump picked three justices. A closely aligned entity, the Judicial Crisis Network, spent millions to help get the justices confirmed (while donating to Senate Republicans to guarantee their support).

"Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse has been arguing for years that a flood of “dark money” flowing through right-wing front groups has corrupted the Supreme Court. Never has there been more evidence to bolster his claim.

WHY?

Yes, the Federalist society developed over decades a near lock on which GOP judges could progress in most States and Federally. If you were a republican judge, and you wanted career advancement you quickly learned that would be denied to you, if you did not fit the Federalist mold and requirements and were political enough to know how NOT to say that part out loud and willing to lie in confirmation hearings.

This was in backlash to prior decades of republican nominations, who looked good on paper to other republicans, becoming more moderate and putting aside ideology when they achiev ed the highest courts. Many republi'cans' felt betrayed by these compromise, more centrist rulings and they set out, thru the federalist society to make sure that would not happen in the future.

That is also why they are pushing in younger and younger ideologue justices who clearly do not even understand or care about the law. ONes like Matthew Kacsmaryk and Aileen Cannon who will make lawless rulings in favour of ideology. If both of them were not exposed thru recent lawless rulings you can bet the Federalist society would have quickly pushed them to the higher courts.

The Federalist society has realized that the dumber the ideologue they promote, the more reliant they will be on the Federalist society in their rulings and their 'friend of the court' amicus brief filings. A dumb person is more likely to stick to partisan beliefs over reason and logic as they do not have the capacity to use reason and logic.

The courts are yet another Institution the republiclowns are set out to destroy both in practice and public credibility. They have succeeded at the SC level and as more of the Judges Trump pushed thru in his term are exposed, the circuit courts will follow the SC. Sad.

The Federalist society is a right wing group out to turn our judiciary into pro-corporate institution.

I think the Federalist Society flirted with Kavanaugh and Roberts for decades, but they do not own them like they do the other 4 Conservative justices.

I believe they truly understand what a democracy crisis is, they recognize it when they see it, and they are true democracy protectionists.

When it comes to State vs. Federal law, they won't interfere with States to make their own good or bad decisions, but they will not allow any anti-Democratic law to become a Federal mandate! I believe that is where they will draw the line.

Federalist society is an enemy of democracy.

Federalist society is an enemy of democracy.

Exactly. They have become PLUTOCRATS, Theocrats, and Autocrats!

And I believe Kavanaugh and Roberts are not part of that mentality at all! And they are not having it.

And I can tell you this, they are not going to allow the Supreme Court to Shadow Docket the Dobb's Decision in all future State Vs. Federal decisions, and turn back 100 years of Law! Ain't gonna' happen! Not where they involve Civil Rights!

No Sir! Roberts and Kavanaugh may be the only true A-political judges on the bench right now!

Kavanagh was always a corporatist. Look at his voting record before he went to the Supreme Court.

Yes, he is, but I do not believe he is allowing that to get in the way of his views on Democracy, Civil rights, and protecting the Constitution.

He seems to be smart enough to know where to draw the line!

The Roberts court is the most pro-corporate, anti-worker of all time. They are directed by the wealthy. The Repubs were after the Supreme Court for decades. They spend millions setting this up.
