Conservatives why no war on Christmas this year?

I have to say, this is one of those areas of political correctness that I find a bit mind-boggling. Who cares what someone says to you, if the only intent is positive & to convey good wishes?

I don't care if a French guy comes up to me in July and says "Happy Bastille Day." For him, it's Bastille Day, and he's conveying that he wants me to enjoy the day as well, though I may not celebrate it like he does. Nothing more.

That's said, O'Reilly is definitely a fool....

Again, its not that the recipentant of the well wishes is offended, its that the wisher looks like an egocentric, ethnocentric, ignorant, fool!

I have a big blow up Santa in the front yard... It was fliped over one morning due to high winds, my neighbor kids, Jews, came over and asked me what was wrong with my "Christmas guy"!

I never thought of it, but those kids must feel strange when so many of there friend are Santa Crazy... and they only know him as "that Christmas guy"!

Well, at the annual Conservatives Secret Strategy Meeting (CoSSM) we decided that this year we'll just spread the love and let God sort it out. If it doesn't work we can always redouble the effort to vilify the left with visions of Santa Claus murdered by Christmas hating evil ELFs...

Crap! Did I say that out loud?

It was a good decision for this year because look where a few years of crying about the war on X-Mas got you guys.....

In a toilet you are finally starting to crawl out of... hopefully the Conservatives learned a lesson about using religen as a wedge!

I got this email today:

To All My Democrat Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010 but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that Americans are necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

To All My Republican Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Man, I'm sorry but I can't give you rep points for this for some reason. Great post....I'm still laughing. The only change I'd make is to address the last part to my "conservative" friends. Good job. :)

I know what you're saying. It's definetly not the crime of the century to wish someone merry christmas, and I doubt that hardly anyone really gets too tweaked about it.

But the thing is, I can never understand what it feels like to walk in the shoes of a minority group. If some frenchman wished you happy bastille day, it would probably be the one and only time in your entire life that would ever happen.

From what I understand from Jewish friends, they sometimes feel as if they are outsiders looking in. They have to hear all the christmas stuff non-stop for like two months. It's not like some random, one-time event of a french dude wishing you bastille day. It's a constant barrage, a constant reminder that this nation to a large degree, recognizes and celebrates christianity. And that there is virtually zero attempt to honor or even remotely recognize the traditions of other religions in any public way. I have no idea what that feels like to a Jew, but I get the distinct impression that from some of the jewish friends I've talked to, it can feel a little weird for them.

Yeah - I know what you're saying. I have had Jewish friends who hated Christmas. It seemed to have more to do with the ubiquitousness of the holiday after Halloween though, than the occasional "Merry Xmas" they might get from someone.

The 24x7 Christmas-fest through November & December is not something that is ever going to abate, though. It's basically a retail holiday; when you think about it, it's as much a cornerstone of our economy as anything...

Thanks for sucking all humor out of it.

Even I get sick of the 24x7 Christmas-fest and I celebrate Chrsitmas! Many stores around here started decorating prior to Halloween.!

Just like a lot of liberals I know....;)

Sad but true, often humor is used to mask or ignore a real problem so when Liberals try to adress something we are sucking joy out of a real situation that should not be masked or turned into a laughing matter.

Or, you just have a hard time at humor that isn't destructive against "those evil conservatives"...

It's okay, we've understood what PC was all about for a long time now.
