President-elect Donald Trump conceded Tuesday that he probably won’t make good on his campaign pledge to pursue a new criminal investigation into his political rival, Hillary Clinton.

“It’s just not something that I feel very strongly about,” he said Tuesday afternoon in an on-the-record discussion with reporters from The New York Times.

Trump cast his reversal as a unifying move that, contrary to some of the early backlash, he believes won’t upset his supporters.


“I don’t think they will be disappointed. I think I will explain it that we in many ways will save our country,” he said, adding that prosecuting Clinton “would be very, very divisive for the country.”

Trump did, however, suggest he wasn’t taking potential investigations into Clinton off the table, while still remarking that he doesn’t want to “hurt the Clintons.”

“I’m not looking to go back and go through this,” he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump’s senior adviser Kellyanne Conway had indicated that the president-elect was likely to renege on his promise to jail Clinton, a sharp departure from the “lock her up!” chants that Trump encouraged at his campaign rallies, immediately drawing the ire of some conservatives."

Hillary was investigated by the Repubs a dozen times. They were fake because they knew she was not doing anything illegal. McCarthy admitted that they were designed to hurt her poling and he chortled about how well it was working. Trump and the right were doing over and over again, what he claims the Dems are doing to him. Of course, those WERE political. They were done repeatedly by the Repub congress. Trump is being investigated by the justice department. Now Trump who began" I will throw her in jail" and investigate her to death, now wants to end it. He thinks that will make justice cut him slack.
Trump has been using "lock her up" for many years. It is a mainstay at his subversive rallies. Now he feels the fear that he made her live with. She was not in fear of going to jail because she did nothing wrong. Trump does not have that working for him. He knows how many criminal acts he did. But perhaps rightys will press justice to be nice to him if he quits using Hillary as a punching bag.
Trump is scared and trying to get help.

Back in 2017, buoyed by President Donald Trump’s calls for investigations into “Crooked Hillary & the Dems,” the DONALD TRUMP'S Justice Department launched an inquiry into Hillary Clinton and Republicans' pet conspiracy theories about her and her career. Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions asked U.S. Attorney John Huber to look into concerns that the FBI hadn't fully pursued cases related to the Clinton Foundation, as well as Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State, including the baseless “Uranium One” conspiracy theory championed by conservatives.

Huber's investigations finished his much-vaunted Clinton investigation—and, unsurprisingly, there was absolutely nothing found to link Hillary to any wrong-doing!

And then the Trump Admin had Durham open up an investigation into Hillary's involvement with the Dossier! It was investigated, and Hillary had nothing to do with that either, except that the DNC paid Steele to obtain a copy of it. NOTHING ILLEGAL!

All Leftists have is Lies. Hillary destroyed the subpoenaed evidence, the citizens gov't documents on her secret illegal gov't server. Pres. Trump did Not pursue the case.

His popularity is only rising with the 30% or so of his followers. Far from enough to win an election.
Lets not forget the 10's of millions of dollars his defense is costing, and its only the beginning.
The judge in DC is taking no shit from him, and if he doesn't watch his mouth there will be serious consequences.

21 million so far is the last I saw.

I haven't heard of any conflicts with the judge, from what I've heard Trump just showed up and did his thing.

Not sure what you are talking about in regards to that.

Isn't the judge in the Washington case the friendly one or is it the Florida one?

He has spent over $40 million on his defense and it's only the beginning. He just shot his mouth off about going after those he doesn't like. The judge will be ruling on that next week. I wouldn't be surprised if this keeps up that he will be remanded into custody.
