Bidenomics: US credit worthiness downgraded

For only the second time in modern history, the US has had their creditworthiness downgraded. The first time was in April 2011 by Standard and Poor during the Obama administration. The second, was four days ago by Fitch Ratings.

Smoke and mirrors notwithstanding, Democrats are bad for the economy...

So what?

Maybe this is code for something I don't understand.

"Fitch cited the federal government’s rising debt burden and the political difficulties that the U.S. government has had in addressing spending and tax policies as the principal reasons for reducing its rating from AAA to AA+."

Most of us have the heard the phrase there is no free lunch. Yes we have the power to 'print' money but it doesn't come without a cost. Many people believe we can basically sustain our current path without repercussions but that's simply the ostrich putting his head in the sand. If not we would have ZIRP and fiscal stimulus into perpetuity.

It's not a fun discussion to have and since both party's have contributed to it partisans can't simply blame the other side.

They literally and explicitly mentioned the attempts to overturn the election. That ain't code. You are a smart guy, but you seem to have a blind spot for what is going on. This is not a policy election. It is an election to decide whether we continue to have free and fair elections. There is not one damn thing more important than keeping Donald Trump out of the White House, because not one policy d8icussion will matter any more if he becomes President again. Nothing will matter.

I care because it's wrecking the nation. Yes, the Republicans do it too, but the Democrats do it faster, harder, and with abandon.

All the threats of civil war are obviously impacting our economy on the global stage, Terry.

Who are the biggest proponents of civil war, taking down the Federal government and making Trump President again?

I'm not saying anything about the election. I'm speaking about our country's financial standing and the warnings coming from this downgrade. It's not like we don't know the repercussions we face in the future we just choose to kick the can down the road. (And if you want to talk about Trump he 1) spent like there was no tomorrow while President and 2) has come out again and said entitlements should not be touched and is speaking out against any Republican who has said anything about reform to extend the life of the programs - like many politicians he shows absolutely zero fiscal discipline which is why we are in this predicament)

Our "leaders" have decided to keep spending until they cant anymore, America is the classic crashing junkie.

This is going to hurt.

A Lot.

Voters don't punish those who spend, that's why they keep doing it. Voters do punish those who try to slow it down or stop it.

The leadership doesn't care, after all, it isn't their money they're spending...

It is worse than that....In the West and pretty much everywhere ever the #1 reasonability of leaders has been to protect the people. The people at the top in the West have betrayed us, a betrayal so profound and the people are so ignorant that almost no one yet has any idea of what has happened, and of what is coming as a direct result.

The Modern Morons are some of the worst people who have ever lived, and are so ignorant that they dont know this, which is a real trick.....It has almost never happened in history because people this low quality generally dont live long, idiocy has been self correcting.

Buckle Up.

It's kind of like saying you aren't talking about the 800 pound gorilla sitting on the sofa. Bottom line, this brinksmanship, lying, and downright stupidity of the GOP members of Congress caused this downgrade, along with concerns about, basically, the foundational institutions of the country. And those concerns are legit. I disagree that this is arbitrary. How long can this criminal be tied in the presidential polls. It's got my attention too and I am making contingency plans. I have genuine concerns, especially living here in Florida and with my income tied up in

That said, I completely agree that entitlements need reform. My solutions and yours may be different, but that problem has to be solved. I prefer an approach that puts the SS burden on the rich, and not on the recipients. And Medicare for all is a MUST to save Medicare, along with a much greater emphasis on prevention and better health, and a more honest approach to palliative care. Problem is, the GOP is taking us backwards. We are becoming a third world country, and it is the result of the wage wealth gap. That is also an issue that MUST be addressed.

When standing with one of your men in NJP and they answer a question with a question, do you believe they are trustworthy and honest?

Have you ever even attended or been through the process of an Article 15 / Mast trial? By the time it reaches the CO / Captain, it's already been decided. The formal hearing is merely a formality. In the Navy, the Div O, Department Head, and XO have already held hearings, and they are very one-sided affairs. It is nothing like civilian court proceedings.

My presence at Mast is just window dressing when one of my guys is the defendant. The Div O or possibly department head is present and like me, they are there as a formality, just like me. We don't get questioned, and really most of the time, the defendant is given only the bare minimum of time to offer his version of things.

if I had anything to do with deciding our credit rating, I'd cut it too. With republicans ignorant enough to threaten a government shutdown over a debt limit in attempt to hurt the other party, how can you trust that country with it's own finances? The last time it was lowered was when Ted Cruz damn near shut down govt in attempt to kill the Affordable Care Act. Only a blithering idiot jackass thinks a govt shutdown would be a good thing and threatening it is almost as bad as doing it. A fraction of a percentage point causes our debt to increase a few trillion like, immediately. Thank you republicans for once again being idiots.

Decided to an extent. I was the Aircrew Division officer for an HS squadron. The two smartest groups of enlisted personnel were the Avionicsmen in Maintenance and my AWs. They were also the two groups most likely to do something stupid so, yes, I've stood up for my AWs at NJP several times. Depending upon their actual offense and if it was a repeat, along with their reputation as a sailor, the general punishment was set, but I think I was able to mitigate that punishment several times in favor of my AW.
