Russia’s economy is entering a new phase. The country is attempting to meet the ever-growing costs of its war in Ukraine, while GDP growth remains stagnant, writes economist Joseph Politano. In many ways, the Russian economy has proven more resilient than expected, but civilians are bearing the brunt of the financial situation. “The costs of the war are growing faster than Russia’s economy, and without changes on the battlefield that will likely require mean squeezing of Russia’s civilian economy,” Politano notes. —

The Putin's war will stop when the Russian people are fed up enough to toss his crazy ass out of a 10th floor hospital window.

If the war keeps going the more production will eventually ramp up and improve their economy.

When war is on economies get all over the place, it is to be expected.

Comrade Sweetcheeks, they are already maxxed out. Putin has to buy his war supplies from other Third World Shitholes.

If Putin had retired after his second term when some vestiges of democratic institutions still existed in Russia, he would have been known as a great Russian leader who saved Russia from utter economic collapse.

Now history is going to paint him as a war criminal who undermined Russia's potential through a combination of hubris, corruption, and misguided imperialism.

It looks like to me that Putin tried to restore the old Soviet Union, and in the process will bring back economical collapse that the Russian people will suffer for a long time to come.

The people I listen to say that the Russians have weakened the Ruble on purpose, that taking this as a sign of Russian weakness or that sanctions are working is to not understand the situation.

Douglas Macgregor, Col. (ret.) is a senior fellow with The American Conservative, the former advisor to the Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration ...:palm:

Why do disgraced Americans like Scott Ritter spout pro-Putin propaganda in Russia?

Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter is touring Russian cities and claiming Ukraine will lose the war. Why do he and other disgraced Americans insist on defending Putin's rhetoric?

Russian propaganda outlets have loved quoting Americans they believe are arguing in Moscow's favor ever since the 2014 invasion of Ukraine, and even more so since the full-scale attack launched in February last year.
