Hertz plans for EVs to make up 25% of its 500,000 vehicles. MAGA soils diapers.

Going electric has never been more popular

and in California, it has never made more sense. Combine that with the state's high gas prices, as well as state and federal incentives to buy electric, and you could save a lot of money.

"In L.A. County specifically, we're talking over 30, 40 or even $50 in savings per fill up, depending on the electric vehicle. That adds up to over $1,000 a year in fuel savings," said Jack Conness, a policy analyst for Energy Innovation.

Maintenance costs are also lower for electric cars. Not having to change the oil could save you a couple hundred dollars a year. "But as far as the really big stuff that can go wrong - engines and transmissions - electric motors are pretty simple.

What makes gasoline more than a dollar a gallon more in California than the rest of the lower 48 states? Are there any California government policies that might coerce residents into buying an EV even if they really don't want one?

Hertz has been one of the top rental car companies in America for decades. They know what they're doing.
I'm sure they've done many detailed cost analyses and came to the conclusion that EVs have better operation and maintenance costs than gas cars. Look for other rental companies to follow suit.

These idiots now hate any corporation who tries to please their customers

Hertz is embracing its name and using it to empower the future of electric vehicles (EVs) in a recent move to accelerate the electrification of its fleet of rental cars. CNBC reports that by the end of 2024, the rental giant plans for EVs to make up 25% of its 500,000 vehicles, up from 10% in 2023.*
With deals to purchase 330,000 EVs from Tesla, Polestar, and General Motors, Hertz will soon be providing savings for customers and reducing planet-overheating air pollution.*
In 2022, the globe-spanning rental car company announced a 12% increase in annual profits amid the push to electrify its fleet, which the company partially credited to its EVs being between 50-60% cheaper to maintain than its gasoline-powered cars.
Hertz’s latest announcement is more than just a savvy business play; it’s a significant development in the EV revolution and for the automobile market as a whole.

EVs offer many advantages over traditional internal-combustion engine cars, including lower operating costs, tax incentives, and cleaner air, according to the U.S. Department of Energy

Why Hertz landed in bankruptcy court when its rivals didn’t

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/17/why-hertz-landed-in-bankruptcy-court-when-its-rivals-didnt.html

Dear Hertz, you’re messing up.

I was renting two Tesla Model 3 vehicles at John Wayne airport in CA yesterday for 1+ months each and both cars didn’t have the mobile charging cables. The employee said only 1 out of 10 Teslas come with a charger cable because customers don’t return them. The employee refused to give me a charging cable claiming they have none. I value the convenience of charging in my rental house’s garage, so I ended up having to order 2 EV chargers on Amazon and Tesla adapters. I have no idea what to do with them after my rental ends because I’m traveling and don’t need them when I go back home.

This is a simple fix. Include a Tesla mobile charging cable for every Tesla you rent out. When car is returned just make sure mobile charging cable is returned as well. If it isn’t, then charge the customer. Keep extra mobile charging cables on hand to make sure all cars have them.

Lots of people might rent a Tesla and it’s their first experience with a Tesla. Including a mobile charging cable ensures people have the best possible experience with Tesla and Hertz.

Companies are going EV because it is cheaper. They are motivated by profits. EVs are more reliable, require far less maintenance and save a fortune in fuel costs. That is why thy are changing.

Tesla is one of the least reliable cars on the market today.

Tesla was found to be one of the most unreliable brands in America, according to Consumer Reports’ annual reliability report.

Consumer Reports‘ annual reliability rankings have been released, and with data from 24 brands and over 300,000 vehicles, Tesla fell near the bottom (19/24) along with Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Volkswagen, GMC, and Chevrolet. Electric vehicles overall also placed poorly, being the second least reliable category of vehicles. Hybrids/plugin hybrids, especially those from Toyota, were found to be the most reliable.

According to the most recent industry outlook report from Lux Research, despite all the progress in the past several years, most electric cars on the market remain unprofitable.

General Motors CEO Mary Barra said in a conference Friday that EVs selling for less than $40,000 can't be profitable just yet. It's an unexpected statement from the head of an automaker that's been fairly optimistic about affordable EVs.

Basically, everything about EV's is shit. The only--ONLY--reason they are gaining any traction in the marketplace is government is forcing them on buyers.
