Accidental Rayville shooting claims 3 year old's life

RAYVILLE (KNOE 8 NEWS) - Richland Parish Sheriff Charles McDonald tells KNOE 8 News an off duty police officer went to another officer's house this afternoon around 2:30 to visit.

The officer opened the door of his SUV to get out and a 3 year old boy ran to the truck, grabbed a gun in the side door and shot and killed his 3-year old cousin.

We're told the little girl died at the scene.

It happened on Waldorf Street. Investigators are not releasing names right now and are ruling the shooting an accident.
 
I am waiting for Topper to tell us all how if only cops didn't have guns this would have never happened
 
Im willing to bet had the cop properly secured the gun this would not have happened.

Same here Winter....the first thing that is taught to kids around here is gun safety. By the way....GO TEXAS!!

What a shame something like this has to happen, but as a cop he should of had the gun secured

The fault is the storage of the gun, not that there was a gun at all.

Agreed, and the guy whose gun it is, should be repeatedly punched in the face. Or better yet, lets go Jesus on his ass, and give him far more than 23 minutes in hell. He should suffer mercilessly forever, and ever, and ever........................................

Beefy if he is any kind of Man I am sure he will punish himself, I don't think I could live with myself if due to my stupidity a child got killed
