New York and Michigan Democrats want to raise taxes to pay for illegal immigrants

While there's no doubt that Trumper Nazis would just as soon take tie them to a garbage scow and scuttle it a mile offshore, Christian states are humane. Still, it's a problem needing a smarter solution than a wall.

Why won't the Republicans initiate immigration reform?

Biden’s Immigration Reforms: New Initiatives Replace Early Setbacks
Not long ago, Fareed Zakaria in his weekly GPS television program on CNN deplored the current state of U.S. immigration policy and called on President Biden to present a new bipartisan immigration bill to Congress in an effort to fix the “broken” system. But this was exactly what President Biden did on his first day as President. So what happened then?

Comprehensive Reform Proposed
In January 2021, President Biden proposed an immigration bill he titled The U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 which in his view would have established a new immigration system “to responsibly manage and secure our border, keep our families and communities safe, and better manage migration across the Hemisphere.”

The bill proposed pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, including DREAMers and farm workers, while also enhancing border security measures. It sought to clear backlogs in family-based and employment-based immigration, improve refugee and asylum processing, and invest in addressing the root causes of migration in Central American countries. Additionally, the bill aimed to modernize the immigration system by promoting diversity, streamlining processes, and providing resources for immigrant integration.

What possible use to the US are a huge group--millions upon millions--of illiterate, semi-literate, unhealthy, often criminal, people with no job skills, to the US? The "root cause" of this migration is WE ARE LETTING IT HAPPEN! If the US aggressively sought to catch and deport illegals, and they know that, they wouldn't bother to come.

As for "diversity," why should we be actively promoting that? What does that bring to the table? Nobody on the Left that champions "diversity" can explain why we need it other than in vague platitudes.

For the first two years of both Obama's and Biden's presidency they had Democrat control of Congress and did nothing about immigration reform. Why not? Seems to me it isn't a "Republican" problem that it isn't happening, but rather because of both parties. Both parties recognize that immigration reform of the sort the Democrats in particular want (eg., legalization of illegals in the US) is highly unpopular with the public as a whole. They know it's a loser issue if they pass it.

The way forward is to stop making illegal immigration only a federal issue and allow state and local law enforcement to arrest and detain illegals until the immigration officials can deal with them. Make it completely illegal for any level of government to aid and abet illegals by giving them ID, driver's licenses, allowing them to rent or own property, hold a job, wire transfer money, open a bank account, or do any other such activity while in the US. Many, most, would self-deport on that alone. Arrest and try employers who hire illegals. Make attendance of schools illegal for them. They get nothing, their kids get nothing. Then make birthright citizenship for illegals a no-go. No more "anchor babies."

Do you have a better idea?
What would be a better way to pay for more services for them?

Arrest them, put them in detention camps until tried, and if found guilty of illegal entry, deport them. Deny them access to identification, bank accounts, money wires, buying property, entering contracts. Arrest and try any employer found to have hired them.

Have them stay in Mexico until their claim of asylum is decided.

If illegals help this country they should stay home and help their own country.

How is that providing more and better services for our refugee friends?

Are you purposely being silly?

You sound outright belligerent when you need to be hospitable.:nono:

You are truly ignorant, aren’t you, old man?

The moment they cross our borders without proper documentation, they are criminal illegal immigrants, subject to arrest and deportation.

There is a legal way to apply for refugee status and swimming across the Rio Grande is not it.

Since you favor this illegal invasion of our country, when can you accommodate 5 or 6 illegals at your house to feed, house, educate and provide medical care…will tomorrow be too soon, old man?

What really matters pertinent to this discussion, Vandy Boy,
is not a gaggle of poor refugees with no place else to go.

They have a problem, but you and I have a different problem.

Neither of us gives a fat flying fuck what the other thinks,
but we respond to one another's posts anyway.

They aren't "immigrants" and aren't our "friends." They are criminal entrants in the country illegally and need to be removed. Hell, if we can be arrogant enough to do it to our own citizens in wartime, we can sure a hell do it to a bunch of foreigners here illegally in peacetime.

So, old man, you won’t take a few illegals into your home to house, feed, educate and provide medical care but you want the rest of us to… you talk the talk but you do not walk the walk.

Fortunately, loons like you won’t be around much longer.

Nice White Supremacist rant, Terry. It's a good thing you don't work for the US government anymore since racist hate speech like this would see you terminated.
