Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez facing indictment on bribery charges

Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez is being charged with bribery offenses in a federal indictment out of the Southern District of New York to be unsealed Friday, prosecutors announced.

"A press event will be held today at 11:00 a.m. to announce the unsealing of an indictment charging Robert Menendez, U.S. Senator from New Jersey, and his wife, Nadine Menendez, with bribery offenses in connection with their corrupt relationship with three New Jersey businessmen," the U.S. attorney's office posted on X.

NBC News 4 reported Monday that the FBI and IRS criminal investigators are attempting to determine if Menendez or his wife had taken up to $400,000 worth of gold bars from Fred Daibes, a New Jersey developer and former bank chairman, or his associates in a swap for Menendez reaching out to the Justice Department to aid the "admitted felon" accused of banking crimes.
 
Menendez needs to step down immediately. I'm sure you feel differently because you think an indicted, and perhaps even convicted felon should be President.

Comical aspect with the thread is that when a Democrat gets indicted it is big news on the right, but what a Republican gets indicted, even four times, and he is running for President, he’s automatically innocent and a victim

They found 480K in cash stuffed in pockets of jackets with his name on them in his home. Sure makes you wonder why he didn't have that money in CDs earning money. He also had 400K in gold bars in a safety deposit box. Sounds like he may be in real trouble.

Well, it couldn't be a lot of Gold bars, since a single 400 oz. Gold Bar is worth over 778K!

And the last time the Justice department charged Memendez with bribery, it ended in mistrial!

Justice Thomas has been filling his pockets with accepting Bribes from the Federalist Society FOR A LOT MORE MONEY THAN THAT!

He may be prevented from voting while he is investigated. If he resigns he loses his salary so I doubt he will resign. But we shall see . I said this MAY affect the balance of power in the Senate and it MAY. Plus it is harder to run against a long time incumbent so a newcomer is not a guarantee. Now have several more shots and get ready for work at Uber Eats.

The definition of a successful public servant
is one who doesn't get caught raking in his or her bribes.
Get real, people.

In any case, this will not impact the balance of power.

If Menendez is pressured to resign,
Murph will simply appoint another Democratic senator, obviously.
 
Dems want him to face justice and if found guilty he should pay. The Repubs do not think like that. Every case involving a red is a witch hunt., a miscarriage of justice. They should not be taken to court.
