Upon receiving the endorsement of former Democratic Gov. Lester Maddox, Carter responded by praising the life-long segregationist: "He has brought a standard of forthright expression and personal honesty to the governor's office, and I hope to live up to his standard." Maddox had not only refused to serve blacks in the restaurant he once owned, but he had also greeted civil rights protestors with a gun, and made sticks available to his white customers with which to intimidate them.

He doesn't have to wait. Biden's already sealed the deal on that. Worst modern President in history.

LOL

That is such a disconnect from how history will view Biden.

Biden is totally mid. He's not even close to the bottom 10. Ended a war, added 14 million jobs after the WORST jobs President in modern history.

You don't give him credit for that - but history will. You are so wrong about Biden.

He sold his soul to a regressive barbaric revolution....history will hang him for that crime.

The thing about Biden and Carter is how they are both very intellectually challenged....that America promoted both of them to the very top is a nice window into the decline of America....what almost certainly turns out to be the last days of the West.

Worst polling numbers since before WW 2.

Worst economy in half a century

Several foreign policy debacles

Immigration disaster.

What has Biden done right? My answer is, nothing.

Until the Electoral college elected a morbidly obese glutton in 2016, our generation used to elect physically fit men who excercised. I think all of our ex presidents since 1970 have lived well into their 80s and even 90s.
And now we have a demented octogenarian that falls going up stairs and walking on stage and can't ride a bike without falling.

He ended a war, and added 14 million jobs. If Trump was President, it would be the most amazing Presidency in history

Citing snapshot polling? Weak.

Worst economy? What measure are you using? Certainly not unemployment, or jobs. Wages are going up. Inflation is easing. The unemployment percentage is historically low.

Please - provide details. How are you measuring this as the worst economy in 50 years?

FACT CHECK
Biden Did Not “Create” 13 Million Jobs

Biden often likes to tout that he “created” 13 million jobs. Clearly, he has no idea about the difference between a job recovered and a job created.

The United States has seen a net gain of roughly 2.3 million jobs since right before the pandemic struck.

In February 2020, before the pandemic hit, 158.7 million people were employed in the United States.

Currently, as of June 2023, 161 million people are employed in the United States.

The job recovery began under the previous president, who oversaw the recovery of 16.6 million jobs.

Republican-led states are the ones creating jobs and leading the economic recovery.

The latest state jobs report shows that eight of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.

Notice how they pretend that the Overlords did not destroy the economy using the pandemic as an excuse....which was somewhere in the scale of stunning incompetence to abuse.

Jimmy Carter’s lasting Cold War legacy

Jimmy Carter was a dark horse Democratic presidential candidate with little national recognition when he beat Republican incumbent Gerald Ford in 1976. The introspective former peanut farmer pledged a new era of honesty and forthrightness at home and abroad, a promise that resonated with voters eager for change following the Watergate scandal and the Vietnam War.

Critics have described Carter’s foreign policies as “ineffectual” and “hopelessly muddled,” and their formulation demonstrated “weakness and indecision.”

As a historian researching Carter’s foreign policy initiatives, I conclude his overseas policies were far more effective than critics have claimed.

The criticism of Carter’s foreign policies seems particularly mistaken when it comes to the Cold War, a period defined by decades of hostility, mutual distrust and arms buildup after World War II between the U.S. and Russia, then known as the Soviet Union or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)
.
By the late 1970s, the Soviet Union’s economy and global influence were weakening. With the counsel of National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, a Soviet expert, Carter exploited these weaknesses.

During his presidency, Carter insisted nations provide basic freedoms for their people – a moral weapon against which repressive leaders could not defend.

Carter soon openly criticized the Soviets for denying Russian Jews their basic civil rights, a violation of human rights protections outlined in the diplomatic agreement called the Helsinki Accords.

Carter adviser Stuart Eizenstat argues that the administration attacked the Soviets “in their most vulnerable spot – mistreatment of their own citizens.” This proved effective in sparking Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev’s social and political reforms of the late 1980s, best known by the Russian word “glasnost,” or “openness.”

Carter’s team underscored these violations in arms control talks. The CIA flooded the USSR with books and articles to incite human rights activism. And Carter publicly supported Russian dissidents – including pro-democracy activist Andrei Sakharov – who were fighting an ideological war against socialist leaders.

God bless him. He's lived long enough to see the ascension of two president worse than him, Obama bin laden and Brandon. Cater was a very good man but a very lousy president.

Hello Cypress,

That crack is an insult to good atheists everywhere!

I don't think Trump represents atheists anymore than Osama bin laden represents Muslims.

It's just an irony of history that the Party that thinks it represents Christianity tends to elect the irreligious and atheist (Trump, Nixon, Reagan).

Just goes to prove that the good die young.

Well,....I guess that pretty much excludes Fat Stacy Abrams from ever successfully running for POTUS considering she makes DJT look like a track star! Many thanks!

So did Bill Clinton.

Cypress is just a small little troll mindlessly spewing hate.
