Evince is such a prolific poster here!

what is a black dialect? talking hood?

I loved when Howard Stern would play that game on his show guess the race of the person talking.

I remember some dude on the stand in the O.J. trial getting cross examined and ripped by Johnnie Cochran after saying he thought he heard a black voice outside Nicole's condo.

No one is going to get elected sounding gangsta or ghetto that's for sure.

As far as sounding educated that would work pretty well.

Dude, aren't you from Oakland or some shit? And you are asking what a black dialect is? Christ, how young are you?

I know what talking black is. No one out here calls it a dialect. You either talk hood, ghetto, gangster, white etc. hence my question just clarifying. EDIT: I always associated dialect to being more a regional thing for how someone sounded.

You'll notice I also haven't criticized Reid for the meaning of what he said because I understand what he was saying. He just said it in a really bad way. Even though I understand it I still don't like it because it is a prevelent thought among some black youth and being young is challenging enough without the idea that trying to better yourself makes you less black.

The outrage here is so false. For DECADES white people would talk about black people that didn't "talk black" by saying, "He's so eloquent." "She speaks so well." "He talks so well." Like any thing short of Sydney Poitier made you some sort of Step N Fetchit character. YOu want to pretend that being lighter skinned does not have it's benefits in American society, then why did Newsweek, a bastion of liberal media, darken a photo of O.J. Simpson after he slit his ex-wife's throat. Why do most popular culture black actresses that are also considered beautiful look like Beyonce and Haley Berry, instead of like Queen Latifa? To pretend that someone that looks and speaks like Wesley Snipes is going to have and easier time in politics than someone that looks and speaks like Denzel Washington strains credibility.

He didn't say anything about how he feels about blacks. He was talking about what made Obama electable. And the lack of a black dialect is part and parcel of that.

Did Reid say that the black dialect sounded ignorant? You adding that is does not make it a fact. It simply shows the depths to which you will sink to try and make this an issue.

But Dix adding the "ignorant" to the rest shows everyone just what Dix REALLY thinks despite what he may say to the contrary.

OOOOH he used the word KNEEGROW? Lets see how the rest of the black community took it. Oh look, the NAACP (shhhh CP stands for Colored People) still supports him, as does the congressional black caucus. I guess you righties are still just pissed that Lott had to go away cause he said the guy who's MAIN PLATFORM was segregation would have made the US a better place. Just like the German's that believe without the Holocaust Hitler had some really good ideas.

let me get this right

rush does the barack the magic negro, is accused of racism

a candidate for RNC chairman sends out cd's with the song, is accused of racism and of course withdraws his candidacy....

this, not racist....the double standards are glaring and quite disgusting

Do you think what Reid said was racist?

why don't you try addressing my post about the magic negro song? i brought that up, yet you can't answer a simple question about that subject.

hypocrite

Zappa's was 1st.

You're always pretty quick to say people are running from you when they don't just answer a question.

Is it a tough one for you?

no, he wasn't....i brought up the negro song and he ignored it and went after reid....how about actually answer the post he copied?

but since you two are going to whine like babies, i'll do the mature thing and not play who asked who first:

yes and not properly thought out

now, i expect you both to address the magic negro song. :)

Yeah, it's kinda racist.

I think Rush is kinda racist anyway; actually, I think most people are to a degree. But Rush is high profile, and he doesn't care if he puts himself out there that way.
