Lets consider what presidents came from privledge and what presidents came from modest roots....

President Obama - Born to a mixed race family in 1961, father soon left him to be raised by a single mother without any signifigant income or means of support. Came from there to become a Harvard educated lawyer then senator and finally president.

President George W. Bush - Born to a wealthy family, his father was director of the CIA educated at Yale and served one term as President of the United States, his grandfather was a United States Senator. After doing very poorly at undergraduate school was accepted to Yale. Ran several unsuccessfull business that his family bought him, ran a baseball team purchashed by family money, then ran for gov. of Texas and finally president.

President Clinton - Born to a widowed mother who left to study to be a Nurses assistant. Helped run his grandparents small grocery store. Did well in High School, got scolarships to Georgetown and Yale. Became gov. of Arkansas then President.

President George Bush, Sr. - Born the son of a united states senator, Yale educated he served in the Air Force then moved to Texas to take a job at an Oil company his father was on the board of directors of. With just 4 years experience he strarted his own oil company then became a congressman, VP and president.

President Reagan - Perhaps the most modist beginings of a modern Republican President, he was born to a traditional two parent family, his father was a successfull shoe salesman and business owner. Reagans parents sent him to college and supported him while he broke into the acting business. After many years in Hollywood he got into politics, became gov. of California and finally president.

President Carter - Born to parents who owned a small peanut farm in Rural Georgia President Carter joined the Navy and got into the Naval Academy where he recieved high grades and honors graduating in Nuclear engeneering and was assigned to one of the Navy's first Nuclear Submarines. Carter was elected gov. of Georgia with a grass roots poorly funded campaign and then became president.

Now I find it very interesting that the Democratic presidents are the ones who pulled themselves up by the bootstraps while the Republican presidents mostly came from wealthy privledged beginings....

And they call the Democrats the elitests!

edited the Clinton info for you...

Side note... an 'elitist' is not someone who is wealthy... an 'elitist' is someone who thinks they and their friends are better than you and that believes the 'elite' should be the ones to 'rule/govern' those beneath them.

Republicans born rich got positions via power and influence of family...

Democrats pull themselves up from bootstraps and worked hard to get into positions of power and influence.

Clearly there are some examples that are different, Kennedy was born of power and influence, Nixon was not. But those examples are more than 40 years ago.

Carter's Peanut farm was by no means "small" nor was his family poor. And as a side note his brother got the stink end of the poop on a stick.

His father was a prominent business owner in the area he grew up in, his mother a Registered Nurse.

LOL. Nixon is as relevant as Carter. You are excluding them only because they don't fit into the box you wanted them to. Tell me about the childhood of Ike Eisenhower.

jarod once again deals dishonestly with obama....

he was not raised by his single mother....he was raised by his middle or upper middle class grandparents and attended the most elite private school in hawaii from 5th to 12th grade....

And Washington was as relevant as Adams... But you draw the line somewhere!

Previous to that with his step father who was an oil executive.

Right, you "draw the line" where you think it will make your point, any actual information would ruin it. Like actually knowing that the Carters were rich, like pointing out that Clinton was certainly not in poverty, etc. Even the ones you picked didn't illustrate your own point.

I guess it depends on your perspective, I do nto believe the Carters were rich, I know the Clintons were not in poverty and never said so!

Do you have a photo of the first estate Bush lived in?

Its amazing how often I am attacked on this board for something someone thinks I implied. You assume I implied something, but I rarely imply, I say what I mean!
