A Conservative Case for Gay Marriage - Promoting American Values

I disagree, I know many conservatives who feel this way.

Look up Pat Robertson (who won republican primaries), Huckabee (who won Republican primaries), Jerry Farwell, Tony Perkins, Ralph Reid, Focus on the Family...., Family Research Counsel, Especally James Dobson....

Yes, there are many in this country whose religious beliefs have them believe that gay marriage is wrong or that the sanctity of marriage would be violated if gay couples were to marry. But again... you find them among the religious on the right AND the left. SM's extreme views are in NO WAY 'typical' of conservatives. You are simply trying to spout more of your ignorance.

Tell me preacher, when did Jesus condone homosexuality? :palm:

If you read the Bible (not the OT, mind you, which had nothing to do w/ Christ), JC's message was basically one of love, tolerance & fearlessness.

Which makes it so mind-boggling that his name is often used to push a message of hate, fear & intolerance...

I find it rather odd that anyone would enjoy getting their shit pushed followed up with a protein enema. It's obviously an act designed, at best, to establish dominance, and possibly to cause serious physical injury.

Please stop trying to make up stuff as you go along.

The article I linked showed numerous examples of homosexuality in nature that were not related to dominance.

Your suppositions as to the "design" of the behavior is irrelevant.

Says who?

Religious fundamentalists make up a large portion of the base. In the south, "Gods, guns & gays" is still the rallying cry for elections...

True... many religious people do not approve of gay marriage. But they do not hold the extreme views of SM. Or do you really believe a 'typical' conservative is against a blowjob?

Add in the fact that many DEMOCRATS also oppose gay marriage (just ask gay couples in CA) and it goes back to my point that it is not typical of 'conservatives'.

Those named all are a Conservatives and they want to limit freedom for more than just gay people.

Sure Jarod... and Obama grew up poor as did Clinton and Carter... all had to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.... blah blah blah....

Your idiotic attempts to paint 'conservatives' as against freedom is quite amusing. Especially given the monumental intrusion the liberals are trying to force upon us with health care.

Tell us Jarod... why did Prop 8 succeed in CA? The state overwhelmingly voted for Obama.

No dipshit, they are not mainstream. You are simply fooling yourself into believing what you WANT to be true and pretending others just aren't 'willing' to express their views.

I have to agree w/ SM (ugh) on this one, his views are mainstreem for a social conservative.

Tell me Supercon.... What is the more liberal position?

The Old Testament had nothing to do with Christ?

Holy shit man, you really need to study-up.

Ah, no. Not exactly.

The OT was written before Christ's time. Much of what he talks about contradicts a lot of the OT text.

The OT shouldn't even be under any umbrella that calls itself "Christianity." It has nothing to do with Christ.

Dude, the OT predicts the coming of the Christ. Jesus said nothing that contradicts the OT: zero zip nada.
