Hertz plans for EVs to make up 25% of its 500,000 vehicles. MAGA soils diapers.

That's the wrong strategy.

Rather than trying without success to influence the private sector that pays for their campaigns,
the government should simply start operating in the industries where they can do a better job.

Private companies may be allowed to try to compete, but none of them will be able to do so.
Eventually, the private sector will only be operating in the few industries which are appropriate for it.

Convenience stores. Bakeries. Bistros and cafes. Night clubs. Apparel. Consumer durables. Dry cleaning.
They don't belong in things like insurance, pharma, airlines, and other places where the private sector has acted abusively.
Run them all the fuck out.

Spoken like a true commie.

The far right wing MAGAs are trying to make 'Woke' their 'Benghazi'. They have nothing to say about the virtues of their party so they have to tear down their opponents with bullshit conspiracy theories and deception. That's all they have. What good things do they have to say about their Republiclown party?

See the Right Wing Super Patriot:

Hear him preach how he loves his country. Hear him preach how he hates Liberals...and Moderates...and Intellectuals...and Activists...and Pacifisits...and Minority Groups...and Aliens...and Teenagers...and the Very Rich...and the Very Poor...and People with Foreign-sounding names.
Now you know what a Right Wing Super Patriot is:
Someone who loves his country while hating most of the Americans who live in it.
You are describing yourself again.

That doesn't even touch on the possible 'bricking' of an EV by the tow company once it's in their yard. Are two companies libel for not charging your EV as it sits after a tow?

No. They don't give a shit about the car. If the owner abandons the car, they sell it. If the owner claims the car, they aren't required to fuel it, charge it, or anything. If you can't move the car, they will certainly charge you additional storage fees or towing fees.

EV's are now often called a straight up scam...Not sure that I would go that far.....but they are almost certainly a terrible idea.

Yep. And if your EV was low on charge when it was towed on say, Friday, you could find it bricked on Monday when the yard opens...

They're not a scam. They're just a totally shitty idea, the kind the Left loves to foist on everyone.

I think they are in the sense that they are not good for the planet, and the whole Save The Planet thing is nothing but a scam, with the purpose of terrifying the people and getting them to agree to give up control of their life to the new global bureaucrats, who will watch us 24/7 and micromanage our greatly reduced lives.

The "Save the Planet" thing has become a scam. It has become a religion of the radical Left. It seeks followers among the stupid and gullible--the sort that believe in astrology and ancient aliens...

As with most major organized religions, it seeks to control those that follow it through ritual and propaganda.

Ya look at how the rich get richer, and the powerful get more powerful, as we become poorer and less powerful.....to the point today were those who run the run the place openly dont give a fuck what we think., or even pretend at running proper elections.

Teslas at least have a primary battery used solely for keeping the computer running. It is separate from the drive batteries but is charged when they are charged.
The computer can run from either battery pack. The switchover is by a simple diode array. This keeps the primary battery from discharging into the drive batteries.

Other EVs are not so well designed on this issue.

IF the Tesla loses the primary battery as well, THEN the car is bricked. It will not run again until the carcass is hauled to a Tesla dealer shop where they can replace the primary battery and reload the software.

Hertz is embracing its name and using it to empower the future of electric vehicles (EVs) in a recent move to accelerate the electrification of its fleet of rental cars. CNBC reports that by the end of 2024, the rental giant plans for EVs to make up 25% of its 500,000 vehicles, up from 10% in 2023.*
With deals to purchase 330,000 EVs from Tesla, Polestar, and General Motors, Hertz will soon be providing savings for customers and reducing planet-overheating air pollution.*
In 2022, the globe-spanning rental car company announced a 12% increase in annual profits amid the push to electrify its fleet, which the company partially credited to its EVs being between 50-60% cheaper to maintain than its gasoline-powered cars.
Hertz’s latest announcement is more than just a savvy business play; it’s a significant development in the EV revolution and for the automobile market as a whole.

EVs offer many advantages over traditional internal-combustion engine cars, including lower operating costs, tax incentives, and cleaner air, according to the U.S. Department of Energy

I bet that plan's all kinds of canceled now.
