How is San Francisco looking? Where did they put everyone. If they politicians can clean up the city for Big Wigs why can't they do it for the commoners? :|

Probably because it ain’t the sodom and gomorrah Murdoch portrays it as, and no, I don’t want to exchange on American cities with a MAGA militia cultist who more than likely has lived in a gated village his whole life and watches Fox religiously

It's a sh*t show. Politicians obviously come here all the time and the City has held major conferences/events before but have never seen this much of the City blocked off/shut down. Combine that with all the protests and it almost feels like COVID lock downs to a degree with the number of people deciding to stay home (or being told to stay home because their job is in the blocked off area). And this isn't just a one day thing but almost a week long.

I have family that lives next to where Biden and others are staying. To get to their place it's like a 20 minute process of having to get out of your car and having police dogs sniff throughout your car etc. (That's always the case when the President or VP is here, which is quite often. You need safety but it's a pain in the *ss.)

The City of course cleared out the homeless and rift raff from where the event is taking place but a Czech news crew got robbed at gun point while filming a segment on the City so that made headlines.

On one hand an event like this brings a lot of attention to the City and of course outside visitors bring money. But so many restaurants and other businesses have had to shut down because they are in the blocked off area near the event it's had a big negative effect as well.

Sound like a normal city dweller complaining about the hurdles visiting VIPs create for the locals, just can’t adjust that daily routine.

Saw UCLA opened up at plus six, up to six and half today, and climbing on some sites to seven, four o’clock national game, you got everything going your way, now don’t start complaining how the early start is going to ruin the pregame tailgate/party

There's nothing normal about this. A lot of restaurants/businesses don't make huge margins, being shut down for a week has a huge impact on them. The City has tons of parades/events that are one day things that you plan around. This is next level. Shutting down the City for a week is very different than shutting down a small area for a day.

I LOVE the 12:30pm kickoff. No better marketing/advertising than a bunch of people sitting at home in the cold in the Midwest/East Coast watching three hours of L.A. sunshine.

 my dad was a mechanic. He bought two duplexes that were built for temporary housing during WWII for the ship building industry. After WWII the duplexes were sold as long as they were removed from the property. My dad bought two deconstructed them then built our home himself with the materials. I worked my way through college and medical school. I do live in a very nice neighborhood now but its not a gated community. You are a moron.

They moved the homeless across the bay, they'll be back within days... just long enough to keep the poop of the sidewalk for the "big wigs"...

So what did they do with the homeless?

Its instructive but not surprising that I have seen no Mind Molder reports on how this was done and how much this is costing. My assumption is that the street people were given vacations in resorts/hotels, and promised that they will be given new and better gear when they return to their preferred lifestyle.

The direct costs to the nation of one full time equivalent SF street person is said to be over $100,000.....special operations such as this adds to the charges.

The Revolution project of destroying our cities is not cheap.

So what did they do with the homeless?

A combination of things. They actually opened up some shelters that they previously hadn't used and then they also pushed them to other parts of the City. Look, I get why they do it. They want to present the City in the best light possible. But locals have asked the same question you did, why only do this for dignitaries but not us who live here on a daily basis?

If they don't get the rental costs, real estate prices, real estate fees, real estate taxes, mortgage rates, and home insurance rates down, millions more will be out on the streets!

Well, unless you are grandfathered in already and over 65, and get a break on your real estate taxes!

It's no wonder why so many grown-up kids are still living with their parents- or the other way around!

I'm told that the problem is the same, if not worse, all over the world- but is it?

This is why, I am a bit more empathetic with the homeless right now- perhaps more than others.

Nah, they’ll be watching the four o’clock broadcast in their time zone, only time I really watch events coming from the west coast is late night if I am not busy with something, except World Series games, something special about daytime baseball

If you say so

Who I care that watch are the potential recruits. Only need a couple of them to become smitten with the weather/scenery. And now that we'll be in the Big 10 kids in the Midwest/East could be more open to L.A. knowing they will have games back near home.
