70% of Africa’s forest is gone. Without affordable energy it will vanish

Net Zero Watch has published two important new papers on African energy needs and the disastrous implications of energy poverty. Written by Zimbabwean journalist Geoff Hill, the two publications were launched in Parliament recently.

.

Even if they get electricity for manufacturing, Africa does not have the waterways to get the goods to seaports for export because it is a Plateau Continent.

I don't know where this guy is getting his information from.

" According to the Science paper, which includes analysis of studies in Africa, Latin America and Asia, 90-99% of forest loss can be attributed to agriculture, either directly through clearing of forests for agricultural expansion or indirectly through loss of forest as a result of agriculture-related activities. Research shows that clearance for pastures accounts for about half of the deforestation, translating to between 1.9 million hectares and 2.7 million hectares (4.7-6.7 million acres) of forest per year.

The research, based on data from 2011 to 2015,"

"For decades, there have been reports of the deforestation of Africa. And they are true — the continent’s forests are disappearing, lost mainly to expanding agriculture, logging, and charcoal-making. But the trees? Maybe not, according to new satellite data analyzed by artificial intelligence and a growing body of on-the-ground studies. This new research is finding ever more trees outside forests, many of them nurtured by farmers and sprouting on their previously treeless fields."

OK, Ladyboy.

The alt right is all about giving rich people all our money, and then the rich people giving it to the alt right. Why not trying to get a job instead?

That's debatable. But on the converse, the hard left is all about wealth redistribution that ensures no one can accumulate sufficient wealth to do anything useful with it. Should someone by sheer luck, accident, or corrupt criminality obtain great wealth in a leftist run nation, they will jealously hide and guard it against confiscation rather than use it.

At least on the right, the "robber baron" sort tend to invest their wealth in something and at least give average people some glimmer of hope of economic improvement. There is none of that in a Leftist nation.

I think you have a distorted image of what wealth for the most part is. Most wealth is not gold that can be buried. In an industrial world, any wealth that could be buried is of no significance anyway.

Wealth would be ownership of some sort of asset. The only reason you can legally own an asset is that ownership is enforced by the government. That makes it very difficult to avoid government confiscation in an extreme left wing country. That being said, we do not live in an extreme left wing country.

High taxes on profits, like in Germany, will effect the economy. Germany has a much bigger industrial sector (percentage wise) than the USA. Their high taxes push owners to reinvest. The USA used to be the same. Now we incentive consumption over reinvestment.

"Wealth would be ownership of some sort of asset"

Mmmm....that sounds a lot like John Locke to me. You know... We all have a Natural Right to possess private property.

Hey, wait a minute ! The right to possess private property (??)...Why, isn't that principle the ...Yes, yes it is !! That wicked principle is the callous. black heart of YANKEE CAPITALISM !! OMG !!

A common mistake I see people on the alt right make is saying the rich people give us jobs.

First off, most of us work for corporations, not individuals, and certainly not ultra rich individuals. Those corporations are owned by all sorts of people. The CEO's are generally just employees of the company. They have no more rights to call it their company than does a night manager at a convenience store. When they take the company assets for themselves, that is theft.

Second off, the reason you get a job is because you do something useful. A company pays you because what you do is worth more than what it pays you. They do not give you money, nor should they. If you are looking for a charity salary, you are not much of a person.

This idea that people like trump should get all our money and then give a few people some money is valueless people looking for money for nothing.

Obviously you have never heard of company stock.
What idea that Trump should get all our money?????

Africans Decry Europe’s Energy Hypocrisy

Ayukegba argues that African governments need to focus on infrastructure investments for local rather than European and Asian markets. He noted that because the Russia-Ukraine war pushed oil prices, which had been originally forecast at $50-$70 per barrel, above $120 a barrel, Nigeria made significant unexpected profits this year, which he argues should go toward infrastructure investments for local electricity needs.

“One thing which we need to start looking at is, what is the Senegalese demand for power going to be? What is the regional African demand for power going to be?” he told Foreign Policy. “We should be looking at ourselves and saying, what are the priorities that we want to spend if we want to develop power capacity on the continent?”

Because of gov't instability and lack of security, many countries in Africa are very high risk investments and Big Investors are leery.

While there are opportunities for long-term growth in the African mortgage industry, several challenges must be addressed to facilitate its development. African mortgage rates are among the highest globally, reaching 50%.Feb 21, 2023

I see you like to blame someone's problems on others, just like you like to blame your problems on others. What a whiner.
