Liberal, Progressive, or Woke?

"Whereas most liberals want to advance equality between the sexes, many progressives seem fixated on reframing gender stereotypes as “gender identity” and denying sex differences wherever they confer rights or protections expressly for women.

And whereas liberals tend to aspire toward a universalist ideal, in which diverse people come together across shared interests, progressives seem increasingly wedded to an identitarian approach that emphasizes tribalism over the attainment of common ground."

A worthwhile editorial. But I never saw anyone use "progressive" to mean "woke."

The best thing that could happen to humanity would be to shitcan EVERY label or descriptor...and require everyone to state their position on anything and everything they deem to be important.

Fucking descriptors suck!

Are we to take on, Frank, the burden of totally changing the universe and its realities?
Will we forever attempt to apply our concepts of "right and wrong" logic
to a reality that's actually "us and them" based?

Personally, I'm far less offended by my labels.

I'm a Caucasian Italian by ethnicity,
American by nationality,
lapsed Catholic secular humanist by faith,
registered Democrat by politics,
generally acknowledged prick of a human being
who gets along better with dogs than my own species.

If that's any sort of a stereotype, than I'm happily the poster child for it.
If it's somewhat unique, then I'm good with that as well.

I was literally trained in the gym to be confrontational
and trained by my family to be true to my beliefs
and whether or not I learned those lessons,
I certainly didn't get to draw my own blueprint.

If I'm to accept myself as a person,
wouldn't I do well to also accept the realities of the universe into which I was planted--
without being asked, I hasten to add?

a focus on individual rights would solve many social ills, progressives and wokesters are against that, being totalitarians at heart.

they both insist on legislating according to groups only.

civil rights should not be implemented through the concept of "protected classes".

believing civil rights SHOULD be protected through the "protected class" concept is what makes one a progressive wokester commie totalitarian.

that's your label. wear it proudly or dare to different.

"Secular humanist" huh?

What is that Nifty?

And is it that to everyone...or to some people?

That fine,
but more importantly,
what manner of debilitation and dysfunction
makes one who's generally incapable of using his cap key
suddenly find the capability to capitalize every letter
in the word "SHOULD?"

yes.

you're a sophist who seeks to eliminate words to eliminate discussions, because you always lose.

an actual need for emphasis instead of just following unnecessary traditions.

why dont you fuck off then?

You're forcing me to be uncharacteristically honest, Frank.
I hate that.

A "born-again" Christian fundamentalist acquaintance called me a "secular humanist" once.

I liked the sound of it for some reason
and went with it from then on.
[I'm thinking that you probably guessed as much yourself.]

As for the "to everyone" part,
do I appear flexible enough
to be something different to different people?

I suspect but don't know for sure
that those who know me best
might doubt that.

secular humanists are people who believe in massive depopulation (eugenics nazis) and hate any beliefs which put an intrinsic value on ALL human life.

My point is that "secular humanist" may mean something different to different people...which effectively makes the descriptor "secular humanist" meaningless. Same thing goes with "atheist" "liberal" "radical" and so many other descriptor words and expressions.

I suspect most people will continue using descriptors rather than take t he time to actually present a position for which they are using the descriptor.

So be it. I will live with it.

You have never explained anything on this forum. All you do is guess.

Bullshit! There are many things about which I am not guessing...including the fact that what you just wrote is bullshit.

But I am probably more willing than most to acknowledge that I am guessing when I am guessing.

Secular humanist refers to someone who is not religious. Seems very easy to grasp.
