That's why they are dismissive of Trump's authoritarian rhetoric.
I don't think most of them THINK that this is what they're doing. I think most of them think that they're supporting changes that are still within the framework laid out by the founders.
But the leaders have a different plan - and the supporters will go along with it, convincing themselves of what I just said.
Democracy does not work for them anymore. Republicans no longer win the popular vote. They haven't for years, and they likely will not again. They see where it's headed - it will start to trickle more & more into the electoral results. They do not want to change their positions to keep up w/ the new demographics, so it's time for more decisive action. They need a new kind of republic, with new rules.
This is the reality. And they'll continue to claim "fraud" as long as the elections don't work for them, and until they complete the transformation of America to a place that is more favorable to their views.
