Baptist pastor, Christian college president apologizes for allowing male speaker with long hair

The Christian Post reports that Pastor John Wilkerson of the First Baptist Church of Hammond is apologizing for inviting David Litty, an "educator" for the Creation Evidence Expo, to give people information that purportedly debunks the theory of evolution while lending support to the biblical story of creation that describes the entire universe being created in a week, along with tales of talking snakes and people living to be several hundred years old.

"Recently, we had a creation seminar hosted here at First Baptist Church of Hammond. With all my heart what I wanted to do is to educate, equip and empower God's people to face and to give ammunition for the fallacies of evolution and humanism that permeates our society,” Wilkerson said in a video posted on Instagram.

“A long-haired hippie teaching in the pulpit is in direct contradiction to Scripture, 1 Corinthians 11:1."

Despite making the apology for the controversy, Boyd added that he believed Christians should treat each other better when dealing with cultural matters.

“I think it was very ungodly to try to crucify someone [for] this. We're trying to help people understand that Darwinian evolution is not true. It's racist. Darwin was a racist. Why don't we write about that?

Maybe they should talk about how so many so called devout Christians are racist and homophobic, which is not consistent with Christian teachings. (Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor)

I guess Jesus is out then. How sad is this.

What's really pathetic is the "long haired hippie" creation scientist they invited to speak, ran out and got his hair cut after hearing the criticism. That kind of servile deference to curry favor is pitiful.

Brigham Young University has a complete ban on beards saying it is totally incompatible with everything Brigham Young stood for. Here is a picture of Brigham Young:

really?.....sounds sort of like "turning the other cheek" doesn't it?......

or at the very least I Corinthians 8:13
Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.

He didn't cut his hair to emulate the teachings of the New Testament.

He obviously did it for the sake of money and reputation. His little Creation Science institute undoubtedly gets it's funding, and gets invitations to speak, from sympathic fundamentalist congregations.

Racist? That's a new one. It seems to me that if you want to pretend that all of humankind did not originate on the African continent, because it contradicts your bible and offends you, as a white person -- then the theory itself is not racist. YOU are.

the out of africa theory is far from proven.

I can't think of a single instance in all of recorded history where truth could be buried and stay that way, can you?

Poor sad people. How can their kids compete with others for education and careers when they're fed this nonsense?

you only believe there is security in the big lie.

there isn't.

They are blaming Darwin for how his theory was misused by fascists, imperialists, and nationalists. Social Darwinism was the idea used by nationalists to assert the superiority of the white race over all others.
Daetin

Darwin himself didn't have anything directly to do with Social Darwinism.

yes.

totalitarian psychotics have seized upon evolutionary theory as a scientific justification for mass murder.

but they are actually just sickos.

Their little Creation Science institute is probably how they make their living, so I wonder how much of the incendiary rhetoric is really being put to the service of firing up their fund raising efforts so they can keep their jobs.

Lord Almighty! Even Jesus was a Long-Hair and sported a beard!

For Heaven's Sake holy-rollers!

There is just no excuse for Redneckin' or hypocrisy!
