It is long past the time to shut down and defund this useless organization that supports despots, tyrants and terrorists.

The United Nations is again underlining its systemic moral and political rot. Since Hamas's Oct. 7 atrocity, an assault of murder, rape, and kidnapping which took approximately 1,200 Israeli lives, the U.N. has utterly failed in its core mission to preserve international peace and justice in service of sovereign nations.

Instead, under the waffling weakness of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the U.N. has presented Israel as the guilty party in this crisis. Disregarding Hamas's battlefield tactic of using schools and hospitals as arms depots and closing his eyes to Hamas's use of Palestinian civilians as human shields, the U.N. chief claims that Israel is committing war crimes. Addressing Israeli military action in Gaza, he asserted this week that "We are witnessing a killing of civilians that is unparalleled and unprecedented in any conflict since I have been secretary-general.”

Those who care for Guterres might suggest that he seek immediate assistance from a neurologist. The former Portuguese prime minister has evidently forgotten some important history that has occurred since he took his present post on Jan. 1, 2017.

How about the Tigray War in Ethiopia? That brutal conflict has taken hundreds of thousands of civilian lives. Guterres similarly appears unaware of Bashar Assad's starvation, barrel bombing, and gassing of tens of thousands of Syrians since 2017. Another Guterres slip of the mind? The killing, under his watch, of tens of thousands of the Rohingya people in Myanmar. Perhaps Guterres might also want to pay attention to China's genocidal program targeting more than 1 million Uyghur Muslims? Or the thousands of Ukrainian civilians Russian President Vladimir Putin?

Guterres's slips of the mind are entirely typical of the U.N.’s abiding bias against the Jewish state. This bias is an addiction.

While Guterres slams Israel, he offers no condemnation of nations that provide financial support and safe haven to Hamas. Or contrast what Guterres is saying now about Israel with what he said when Iranian security forces brutally crushed women's rights protesters in Iran last year. Now Guterres sees atrocities, whereas last year he was only "concerned" with the ayatollah's onslaught. He even lent legitimacy to the Iranian crackdown, declaring then that the regime should not use "disproportionate force." Proportionate force against women's rights protesters is OK now at the U.N.

This rot is instructive. It shows that the U.N. is in desperate need of systemic repair and reform. The U.S. should not be an idle witness to this disgraceful state of affairs. Providing an outsize measure of the U.N.'s budget — U.S. taxpayers gifted the U.N. $12 billion in 2021 — Washington can exert real influence. It only need acquire the will to use that influence. Unfortunately, the Biden administration has shown a tendency to believe that providing a blank check to the U.N.'s bloated bureaucracy is the best way to make it more effective. This must change. If Biden won't take the necessary action, Republican presidential hopefuls should pledge to do so.

One key area of focus should rest on denying regimes such as Iran membership of the U.N. Human Rights Council. The absurdity of its presence there is obvious. The U.S. must demand greater moral clarity from U.N. leaders. That has to start at the top with Guterres. Where U.N. Security Council members draw false equivalency between a democracy acting in its own defense and terrorists warring to eliminate it, the U.S. should make the difference crystal clear.

Much is at stake in the war between Israel and Hamas. The conflict will help shape whether democracies under the rule of law or terrorists bound to fanaticism set the terms of international order. If, facing this question, the U.N. sees Israel as the immoral culprit, the U.S. should take action to set the international organization straight.

This is where I agree with Nikki. She makes the case to disband this useless organization that has become a haven for corrupt governments.
 
How about disbanding the entire UN? We pay the majority of the costs and receive nothing but bias and hatred from the members.

Send these high living diplomats home and give the building back to the city.

I am sorry, but Haley sometimes does not see the forest for all the trees.

World opinion means a lot! She is so right about the world still having some countries in the world having human rights issues.

America is one of them.

And her party is the reason for that.

Taking away a woman's right to choose is a human right! And that is only one example!

So, she needs to try not to be such a hypocrite when she is trying to convince people to vote for her.

And, by her not understanding the value of the United Nations, in spite of the fact that it is not a perfect world, is not ever going to help get her, or any other Republican elected.

Every country should have a platform to be heard by the rest of the world- be they right, wrong, or indifferent by what they have to say.

The United Nations was formed to provide exactly that.

Let them talk. That is the fastest way to be able to determine, the Good, Bad, and Ugly- JUST AS JPP serves the same purpose here in our little world!

Slight Tangent: It should be noted that the massively incompetent hack Blinken has been replaced in talks by the CIA's Burns....someone my grapevine says has some diplomatic talent..... one of the last in Washington who has skills.

In republican States, Black Lives Matter. While white lib States encourage Black women to kill their unborn for financial reasons.

Nikki is right about the UN Human Rights Council. Can you quote her saying abolish the UN itself? ... or are you mistaken about that?

BTW, Nikki is a Moderate on abortion. She made that clear during the last debate.

Her stance on the Human Rights Council is wrong. She has said she would pull us out of it again, if she gets elected.

I realize her stance has to do with protest, but our voice on that Council needs to be there. The entire free world expects our voice to be there and be the loudest voice on the Council. We are the leaders of the Free World and we don't run from our responsibility in protest. The United Nations is about UNITY and cohesiveness with our allies- Damn the autocrats and the abusers of human rights of the world's torpedoes! And our voice on the Human Rights Council and at the podium of the United Nations is where we damn them in front of the world for all to see.

And she has said that she wants to defund the United Nations as much as possible. Is that any way to lead the United Nations? By setting a bad example for others to follow?

Has she forgotten that we are only one out of five Countries with veto power on the council?

Now who's attitude does her irresponsible comments sound like? It sounds like Donald Trump to me. That's not FULL SPEED AHEAD! That's not DAMNING THE TORPEDOES!

We are not the slicers and dicers of the world- WE ARE THE UNITERS OF THE WORLD!

Nikki formed her own opinions from her experience at the UN. She learned that Trump was right.

IIRC, we only have veto power on the Security Council. Can you quote where she wants to abolish that?

The UN are not uniters. They are a group of unelected appointees each pushing their countries' own propaganda.

We are not the "leader" of the UN.

Virtue signaling is not "setting an example". Sanctuary cities are a perfect example of virtue signaling.

If anyone is Virtue Signaling, it is Nikki Haley by taking her stance on the United Nations and the Human Rights Council!

It's like a pie fight! Virtual Signalling is just a phrase that is commonly used by a hypocrite!

Nikki agreed with Pres. Trump's action to withdrawal from the 47 member HRC. That is not VS. She used her own experience, logic and reason to arrive at that decision herself.
 
The comedy here is that none of above MAGA militia cultist have a clue on what the UN actually does, other than what Sean and the like tell them, they are clueless

Peace keeping missions and humanitarian efforts alone justifies the UN existence, without them, even simple tasks as global mail could be problematic
