The labor force participation rate is lower now than it was when Trump left office. But the fact is, it is a poor measure, because it considers everyone age 16 or over. Two things have tended to push the rate higher. First, very few teenagers are working compared to 20 years ago. Second, boomers are retiring at a rapid pace. The rate has been dropping since 2000. The rate for males has been dropping since the 1960s.
