Michigan school shooter’s mother found guilty of involuntary manslaughter

Pontiac — A jury on Tuesday found the mother of the Oxford High School shooter guilty of four counts of involuntary manslaughter, capping an emotional seven-day trial that some legal experts viewed as a litmus test for holding parents criminally responsible for their children's actions.

As the 12-member jury read their verdict in Oakland County Circuit Court, Jennifer Crumbley showed little reaction but closed her eyes and looked down. Jurors deliberated for 11 hours before arriving at a decision. Crumbley is scheduled to be sentenced April 9 and faces up to 15 years in prison.

"We all know this is the hardest thing you’ve ever done," Oakland County Circuit Judge Cheryl Matthews said after the verdict was read.

Now the dad needs to go down

If you neglect a child’s needs and then encourage them to partake in a harmful hobby

That’s neglect

She had been told by her own son that he needed mental help

She ignored his needs

Now his life is destroyed and other children are dead

They were crappy parents. but you cannot show that anything there was anything they could have done that would have fixed him. They should not have bought him a gun. That is clear. Lots of people and families should not be allowed to buy weapons.

They have texts that show the kid said himself he needed help

They refused to get him help

It would be pretty much the same as denying him food

A shrink in the trial said he has a depressive disorder, with psychosis, anxiety and an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Is that against the law? Do you think seeing a shrink would cure him?
They should not have had a gun.

You are correct

And his parents refused to get him mental healthcare

What makes it different if they bought him a gun to use and never secured it?

So? Are parents required to secure the family car?? No- they leave the keys laying around and if their teen kid drives off and kills someone on the highways, nothing is done to the parents.

They could have locked up the gun, mighta helped!

They asked specifically after informing the parents of the disturbing messages he was writing and they said no. Wow... all it would take was a "yes", the kid would not be in school...

The headline didn't make sense... until I read the story.

The mother texted “lol, I’m not mad at you, you have to learn not to get caught.”
That was so very disturbing to me.

Jennifer Crumbley, the Michigan mother accused of involuntary manslaughter when she failed to inform her 15-year-old son’s high school that the family possessed guns shortly before he went to campus and fatally shot four students and injured six, including a teacher, was found guilty of all charges Tuesday afternoon.

Good. Let her and her equally fucked-up husband serve as a warning to the parents of future would-be mass murderers.

The fact that when their son was arrested, instead of going to the cop shop and/or getting him an attorney, they left him to dangle while they tried to flee to Canada shows us that they *knew* they had fucked up and would be in trouble. If they knew that, then they knew that he was a danger yet they gave him a weapon instead of mental health treatment.

So next time a 16 yo old black shoots and kills with gun he got from home...the mother should be put in jail because she should have stopped him from being out at 1am
