It's the Gazan Ministry of Health - who have a reputation for accuracy, and whose figures the UN and even rivals of Hamas accept.

How much do you think they're exaggerating? Do you think it's "only" 20,000, or 10,000?
 
It's actually kind of stunning that I'm told to "fuck off" for actually acknowledging that there might be innocent human beings worth saving somewhere.

This is a problem. We need to get back to at least some moral center that most of us can agree on.

If the figures were roughly accurate - say somewhere between 20 - 30,000...do you think it's reasonable to call for a cease-fire?

There is a semi ceasefire at the moment whilst the hostage negotiations are in play. That will change once the hostages are released and Israel finishes mopping up in Rafah. It's looking increasingly likely that Hezbollah will join in and maybe a new Lebanon war. Will you still be calling for a ceasefire?

It's not naive to care about innocent people.

And there are innocents in Gaza. There is a long history on the planet of people demonizing and dehumanizing large groups of people - hundreds of thousands, even millions - because of where they were born, their religion, their skin color, et al.

People who did that were literally never correct.

It actually is possible to support Israel's right to retaliate against Hamas, and to also support innocent civilians in Gaza & things like humanitarian aid to Gaza.

This wouldn't have been as much of a thing a few decades back. We used to allow for more nuanced discussion. Now, everything is black & white. You're either on this side, or that side.
