Bishop could face the death penalty if convicted of murder, reports said

A biology professor denied a job promotion has been charged with murder after a shooting at a southern US university left three people dead.
Amy Bishop was apprehended outside a science building at the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus after opening fire at a faculty meeting.
She could face the death penalty if convicted, officials said. Reports said her husband was also being questioned.
US educational sites have seen numerous fatal shooting attacks in recent years.
The most serious occurred at Virginia Tech University in 2007, when a student killed 32 people before turning the gun on himself.

Local media reports in Huntsville say the shooting happened after Prof Bishop found out she had been denied academic tenure, which guarantees job security.

University officials said no students were involved

University spokesman Ray Garner said the three killed were the head of department and two other professors. No students were harmed in the incident.
Two of the three injured, also biology department members, are said to be in a critical condition in hospital. The third was reportedly in a "fair" condition.
The Huntsville campus in northern Alabama has about 7,500 students.
Prof Bishop is a neurobiologist who studied at Harvard University. She had joined the biology faculty as an assistant professor in 2003.

Maybe this is a wake up call to Academia. I can remember when I worked in academia how political and stresfull things could get over issues that don't amount to jack shit in the real world often to the point where one loses perspective.

This is a great example. This biology Prof got so stressed out by the mind games they played with her over tenure that she opened fire on their asses. Lost perspective that a Harvard Educated Nuerophysiologist can make 3 to 4 times what she makes at a University, tenure or not, in the real world.

I once told a Full Professor (who earned his PhD as MIT mind you) who was making sarcastic remarks about having to take time away from research to *gasp* get his hands dirty by teaching.....get this....students!

I told him that he shouldn't be so arrogant. He was less productive and of less value to society then our plants millright. He looked down his nose at me, gave a condescending smile and said "What makes you think that?" to whcih I said, "He makes more money then you do and he gets more work of value done in a day then you have in 20 years of research. Good thing I was working as an outside contractor. He couldn't get me fired! LOL

You're an ignorant ass. Basic research is more useful than paper pushers who just move money around, and it's a tragedy our society doesn't value it.

We'll never know. It's entirely possible that no one might have died had one of the victims or by-standards been armed. It's equally possible that them being armed would have made no difference. However, they didn't have the option, which is the crux of RKBA activists.
 
It's more probable if guns were outlawed nobody would have died and this ugly bitch would have quit her job.
