Why Republicans hold the strange belief that Obama is a liberal

Washington supported a law saying that this nation was not founded on Christiantity!

HOw can it get more clear than this?

"...I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State." - T. Jefferson

What is the source of this quote that you erroneously attribute to Jefferson?

Oh look at the date, 26 years after he wrote something entirely different that founded the US. It is well known that Jefferson views were markedly different in his later years.

False, do you have some evidence? He clearly discusses the intent.

Treaty of Tripioli - Radified by the U.S. Senate 1797 and written in colaberation between Jefferson and Washington!

On a draft only and omitted completely when the US got the upper hand on those Muslim pirates!

"Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Article 11 is very interesting considering it in the context of todays war on Islam!

This ignores other translations of this exact treaty that directly state otherwise. This isn't something that proves what you want it to. The Barlow translation is a largely discredited version.
