He also appeals to their ' inner criminal '. We've all got one. Law-abiding citizens keep theirs under control- partly out of fear of the consequences and partly because they realize that our civilization depends upon our behavior. Trump's wealth has insulated him from the consequences- until now. He should have kept his head down.
 
On reflection, both Nixon and Reagan were crooks, Nixon's crookedness leading to his Watergate resignation and Reagan's identified by his lies with regard to the Contra scandal and his vetoing of his own prosecution at the UN Security Council. Bush Jnr was a common-or-garden simpleton, elected by way of the scurrilous ' Hanging chad ' decision to later become an icon of stupidity which embarrassed even his supporters. These ' figureheads' deserve to have their asses depicted on Mount Rushmore as they paved the way for the election of the felon, Trump- who has, almost, destroyed faith in the country's electoral system . Unfortunately, we have to face the fact that America's ' inner criminals ' will succeed in having their false idol erected a second time- which would totally destroy faith in US democracy throughout the world.

It's good to be funny. Especially self-deprecating humor. I'm a firm believer in people with such humor having a higher quality of life than those who are simply bitter, hateful and angry all the time.
