Trump says he would fire Jack Smith ‘within two seconds’ of becoming president

I believe firing Smith is within his presidential powers and fully constitutional.
Not directly in the presidential powers. trump would need to appoint an Attorney General who then could fire Smith. Nixon did the same thing.

"Fully constitutional" is a bit of an exaggeration. Interfering with a criminal investigation to cover up a crime is covered under impeachment. It would be the duty of the House to impeach trump, and then the duty of the Senate to convict trump, if he were to do such a thing. Of course Republicans in Congress have been ignoring their constitutional duties lately, so trump might be able to get away with this.

When he has him hanged outside the white house you might have a dictator case.

Arguing with them is like arguing with a drunk. A fucking waste of time might as well just get down to the inevitable violent conclusion.

What exactly have the congressional Republicans been ignoring when it comes to constitutional duties? They do have so many goods on biden with his pay to play schemes with our foreign adversaries and with the biden govt warfare, but the smart Republicans in congress know it will all be taken care of once Trump becomes #47 potus.

So the Republicans that are actively campaigning and speaking against Trump (the list even include Mitch McConnell now!!!!) are the "dumb" ones?

How did Mitch, the most toxic Republican in a generation, the man who helped Trump steal at least one SCOTUS seats suddenly become a bad republican?

I think that's too bad.
If I were in Trump's position I'd like to see how sentencing would be accomplished as a dare.
Trying to imprison a sitting president would be great theater.

Totally agree. It would be nearly earth shattering in our nation's history. But if it can't possibly happen then we don't have a democracy. We have a King.

Can you remind me: didn't we fight some war or something to get away from a king? My memory is hazy on this.
