If dims would nominate a fairly intelligent moderate, Trump would be defeated easily.
That candidate would get all the votes from knee jerk voting dims, most independents, and plenty of moderate republicans (like me).
In '16 your team had Martin O'Malley or Jim Webb, e.g. but instead chose one with more baggage than a fully loaded 747.
In 2020 you could've had Andrew Yang but of course it's well known liberals are not accepting of Asian Americans.
I doubt Biden would have won against Trump in '20 were it not for covid. Things were going too well until then.
Now you have an appointed candidate who was a complete non-factor in 2020 and was only selected VP for no other reason than her race and gender.
You people knew Biden was in serious mental decline for months if not years (I noticed it in the 2020 dem. debates) yet not one dim stepped up to challenge him.
It's like dims try to get Trump elected by selecting the worst possible choices.

There's precious little evidence of that. Perhaps back in 2016 if they had found someone less toxic to the Right than Hillary that would be true, but I fear that MAGA has so far entrenched itself in its own position that now we find that literally nothing Trump does will dissuade his supporters.

He openly channels Nazi era rhetoric with "vermin" and "enemy within" and his supporters think it's great. He openly attacks America's fighting forces and they are on board with that. He has been convicted in a court of law and they suddenly think the American justice system is beneath them.

I fear we've polarized too much for anyone to really change their positions.

And besides, one pretty much has to be high as a kite to call Harris' positions "extreme".

And in the end it's the few truly independent voters that decide elections.
In my case I considered Kamala for a while, then the more I saw of her I actually considered Trump. In the end I was torn between Trump and Bugs Bunny. I wrote in Bugs yesterday (We leave for Portugal tomorrow, I'll be there on election day).

The last republican I voted for in a presidential election was Bob Dole. My favorite president in my lifetime was Ford followed by Reagan then Clinton. After that the choices were so bad I registered as a libertarian when Ron Paul was one. But even they have been having poor quality candidates.
