The gov social programs are to big to fail. And republicans are way too stupid to even slow them down.
 
There is nothing in the SS Trust Account. As soon as it comes in, it goes out to pay for other expenses. As of last year, there was an unfunded liability of $107 trillion for SS and Medicare combined. No one can tell me government has done a good job of handling this.

SS has been in place for 80 years so folks don't take care of their parents like they used to. It used to be common for grandma to move in but not anymore.

If folks got to keep the money that they invested in Social Security they'd be able to pay for long term care insurance as well as a retirement with their full working income or a multiple of it, not a mere pittance as Social Security provides. And when they die they'd pass their earned wealth to their kids. So not only would their kids have grandma live with them they'd fight their siblings for the privilege to do so.

I'll try one more time to get this through your thick skull. The scenario like you pose does not happen. It never did happen. That's why the government implemented SS.

Do you understand? If older people had been looked after the government wouldn't have started SS. There wouldn't have been a need. Are you so dense you can't understand that?

Why is the government getting involved in medical? It's because private interests do not give a damn about others. It's the same thing as what happened with SS. Private interests, the market forces, they don't and never did give a damn.

The bottom line is the right wing, conservatives will say anything but open their wallet. That's all it is. It all comes down to money. Even abortion. If it's not the cost of the actual procedure it's knowing there will be less poor to exploit.

Do some research on abortion. Virtually every country that banned it did so due to a shortage of young males needed for either labor or war.

My parents and grandparents have long passed on. The point is not all people do care for their parents and grandparents. SS was implemented because people didn't care for their parents and grandparents way back in the 30s. It's nothing new.
