I agree. Let's do that too. But if you stop all the illegal immigrant criminal actions and stop government from encouraging any of that, that'd go a long way to ending it quickly.

I'm not so much "scared" of them as pissed off that government is encouraging them. It's like having that crazy cat lady living in your neighborhood that feeds all the strays. It ruins a lot of stuff for a lot of people doing things legally.

Because that isn't how it will play out. If I were Trump, on day one I'd issue an executive order saying that any government body that has declared itself a "sanctuary" for illegals is banned from receiving all federal aid and monies as they are aiding and abetting criminals. Watch how fast those places end that policy and start hunting down illegals to remove them. That's just for starters...

I don't see it quite that way. First I doubt ALL legal action is stopped against undocumented people, but even it was true...it kind of sounds like the old saw we hear from Second Amendment supporters fighting more restrictive gun laws: "laws won't stop the bad guys from doing the bad things". Hopefully you can see the parallels there.

I would agree, however, that yes, we should allow legal actions to be taken against undocumented immigrants. It's our borders and if we all agree that borders are good, this is the bare minimum of what we can reasonably do.

BUT there's also the overwhelming scale of the issue. The very thing you guys are complaining about is kind of why it's really hard to be able to enact all the laws. If we agree to pay MORE in taxes to cover the cost, then, yeah. We should knock ourselves out.

And finally: I don't know that many Americans who wouldn't crawl across broken glass and shiv their grandma, if she got in the way, to get to a dollar bill. Now imagine if you're living in a shithole with NO INCOME and a starving ton of kids (cuz you're poor and your Catholic) and you LOVE your kids so you will do whatever you need to do to feed those kids. I don't have kids so I don't know what it feels like to have a child, but my general understanding is that most parents will tear down the walls of heaven and crawl through the fires of hell to take care of their kid. So color me skeptical that a few "laws" are going to be particularly effective.

Oh, my friend, didn't you realize? The GOVERNMENT isn't encouraging them. YOU AND I are. ALL OF US are. WE give them money for their labor. Not enough money but that's why WE LIKE THEM HERE.

There's no impoverished Mexican trying to feed a starving family who is saying "Gosh I hope an administration with more friendly policies toward illegal immigration are elected. At that point I will cross the border forthwith!"

No, friend, they see OUR MONEY which we are WAVING AT THEM and they come for that.

They pay sales taxes because they can't help it. Fully illegal immigrants do not pay income taxes unless they have a stolen social security number. I live in a place with lots of illegal workers, they work for cash. Paper or electronic; never W2.

Also (and this is true of all other "but they pay taxes"): If they paid enough taxes to pay for the government services they used then just charge them for the government services they use directly.

That's where the house of lies falls apart, you know damn well they don't pay their way. That's why it's called "progressive" taxation, the wealth "progresses" from people who produced it to people who didn't.

Actually, I take that back, they could pay their own way if the government wasn't a money laundering organization. Schools should be like $1000/student/semester; not $7,000.

Yep, they could have probably rebuilt half of these central American nations with the money they've stolen from people like you; but they aren't. Why? Because you can't say "no".

Things would be very different, much better for everyone if we could say "no". Then there legitimately would be very little reason to object to vetted immigration.

I have no idea what point you think you've made (again).

Without the unwise or immoral cooperation of Americans they could not do harm. Yes, I never assumed otherwise. None of my points depend on that being false. The government stealing to help the migrants is also only a problem because the government (Americans) are stealing (which is immoral and impractical in the wider scope).

That's obviously true, but it's also possible they're moving their drug enslaved people here with them. Still a motivation if they're allowed to simply steal property and land, which they have been doing to some degree (see apartments, gang territories, squatting epidemic).

This is different. You:

Make getting any sort of government ID, to include a driver's license, illegal. No proof of citizenship, no license.
End allowing anyone who isn't here legally from making a wire transfer to a foreign country. That ends a 170 billion dollar-a-year drain on our economy.
Prosecute employers who hire illegals. If the employer did it unknowingly, put them on a 5-year probation period for repeat offenses and let them slide this time.

Make it illegal for anyone not here legally to enter into any sort of contract. That means illegals can't buy a car, rent an apartment (except month-to-month for cash), buy a house or real estate, or get a credit card.

Make it illegal for anyone not legally a citizen or here legally, to open a bank account.

Make illegals ineligible for all government programs to include education. You brought your kids? They aren't going to public school on the taxpayer's dime.

Most will self-deport because they can't do anything here that makes them money or gets them ahead.
 
The Cartels will be droned to pieces in short order after Trump takes office. "Certain people" will be introduced into Mexico to follow up with the sources already in place. They will be marking the homes and Headquarters. X marks the spot annnnnnnd,.....BOMBS AWAY!!! They will have nowhere to run and no quarter will be given. Their days of enriching themselves from the suffering of others are OVER. This will go a long way to securing the border, stopping the flow of dangerous and deadly illicit drugs and ending the absolute evil of sex trafficking of minor children. They are terrorists plain and simple. If anyone ever deserved to be absolutely destroyed it is THEM.
